Asking again, has anybody been notified that their employment, or lack thereof, is invalid? I'm seriously concerned about my younger brother. He found out that I was doing it (legitimately), and went and signed up himself, even though he doesn't even have job!

BTW, 242 copies of WinXP as of 4:40pm pacific time.

If MS comes after him, daddio could get in some serious trouble. Then lil bro's bottom could be very red from daddio's belt.

MS did call me about verification a while back; they just left a message saying they were calling to verify.

You may have trouble getting your copies or your brother may have trouble getting his (illegitimate) copies, since MS requires proof of employment to all products for each INDIVIDUAL sent to the same address...

Dunno how useful this is gonna be for anyone but as of the time of this post there are 3 copies of WinXP pro left. This from the 40 that were available 30 minutes ago. Maybe I'm not the only crazy night owl that does the Microsoft Bullogna.

On another note, does anyone have any credible information on how these pieces of software, most importantly WinXP are being tracked? Does the WinXP info need to match the info of who ordered it from Ms training? Any idea what they do if this info doesn't match.

Thanks for posting this deal Wadam!

It occurs to me that this would be a violation of privacy, especially since the only way they would get your address would be through activation - and MS CLAIMS that activation is completely anonymous. Although I'm not reselling anything if this was actually their practice that would piss me off pretty bad.

Can any of y'all get to the order status page? Every time I click on Order Status, it wants me to update my profile. I have all the fields filled in except "Mosaic/Microsoft Representative Number" and "Home Address 2" which are optional. One thing that is strange is the entry for Manager's email no longer appears.

Never mind. Your order status is now at the very bottom of the My Profile page. I just didn't scroll down far enough.

MS is verifying people's employeement now. I got curious and went to check ont he status of my order and it was cancelled pending verification of employeement. First thought was, but I've already been charged! So I E-mailed them my employeement info and how and when they could call me at work. This morning before I left for work my order was validated. That's some FAST verification!

Did they just start verifying? I ordered two weeks ago and just got my shipment today but my manager says he didn't get any calls about me.

w00t! They finally got Office XP Pro back on!

Just ordered that and Age of Mythology for $20.65.

Just hope that if my manager gets a call, he'll be okay with it. (I stock at OfficeMax)

I got my copy last week. Took about 5 days to get it to me. I was really impressed. I also don't work in the "retail" industry. I do some computer repairs on the side though.

I had a Federal Tax ID number in the past. With that I was able to get these same Not For Resale copies for a fraction of cost from Microsoft directly and then from Ingram Micro. I got Windows 98SE for about $10, for example.

Microsoft has been very generous with their NFR copies as far back as I have knowledge, which is about 10 years. They aren't the only company who has a program like this. If you want to get more NFR copies of programs, just get a Federal Tax ID, which are free, and send them some letters asking about such programs. However with a Federal Tax ID you do have to do a quarterly tax report or you'll get into trouble. But you can cancel at anytime... which means that you find out about the programs, get what you want, and then "go out of business." There is nothing wrong or illegal about it. Companies benefit from having people in society who are familiar with their programs. It helps on customer service and advertising costs.

Just a quick update on in stock items; There are only 296 copies of Train Simulator left! Take those quizes!

Just kidding...on a more practical note however, there are over 999 copies of Office XP in stock, so If you missed out before, today seems to be your lucky day! Get quizzing!

P.S. I ordered my copy of Windows XP over this last weekend, any ideas on when I should expect it to ship? It still says *In Process*....mmmHmmm....

Paid less than $25 ...
Not bad, not bad at all.

I found that office is more often and available than Windoze. It comes every second day now it seems. Maybe because they introduced the new office 2003, they want to dump these.

My friend tried this deal too, but since 4 weeks his status is "processing".
He does not work in retail at all and faked his info (he prtended for them that he worked in a Best Buy).

But the shipping charge (which is deducted right when you order) on his card is still there.
Seems je had to pay for nothing.

On another note: does anybody know if other non-gaming programs (like Frontpage) were ever offered?

I would appreciate your info on this.

Mine doesn't say anything about NFR on the box, could it be inside on the CD? I don't want to open it unless I have to.

All clear of "NFR" legend, Inside and Outside of box.

Careful, did you, er I mean your friend read the small window that pops up when you order, saying that MS reserves the right to cancel any orders and will PROSECUTE for fraudulant orders.

*I* myself told him that this is for retailers only, but he still wanted to try (to be honest, I would have tried too, if I were in his situation).
He said he will email them to find out if he can get his money back. I suggested him to dispute the charge through his CC, as no transaction/service was done.

It is quite mean that they charge for shipping first, before they check you out. But again, this is intended for people who *ARE* in retail, so nothing would go wrong for them.

Anyhow, back to the question: does anybody know if other non-gaming programs (like Frontpage) were ever offered before?

Update on my order of XP. Placed order over the weekend on Saturday, the 16th. The order aparantly shipped on the 19th, Tuesday. The ETA is Monday the 25th, which is great because I leave for college on the morning of the 27th. Ok, enough dates, this retail service seems to be pretty cool. Being shipped almost immediately is awesome.

Also, for those that are interested, the orders are shipped via Airborne Express which would explain the somewhat high shipping costs. ($10 for Windows XP for example)

That's it for me, night!
