SP2 installed ok on my T6000 by eMachines. However now AOL v9 will not work, v8 still works but not v9. The install went very smooth other than that... and it does include SP1.

I've been using SP2 RC1 for a while now, got it before the msblast worm hit everyone's computer. It still got me even though it has all these new security features. Maybe this RC1 is different than that RC1?

What does it say? The license agreement?
Actually I guess it's 50 some pages long, just like all of their EULA's and licenses, so I'd be happy with the part you dont like

Uh SP2 RC1 has certainly not been around since before blaster. Go to start, run and type winver and see what you are really running.

By default, SP2 will only allow inbound connections from your own subnet. I don't know how to turn it off off the top of my head; read the 155 page "changes to functionality" guide that's linked from www.microsoft.com/xp2preview.

You can alter this behavior by viewing the properties for the firewall exception and selecting "Scope..." from there you can specify only your subnet, all subnets or only your local host.

Don't have it anymore. I installed SP1 after blaster came out because it didn't let me install the fix for blaster on SP2, because it says my windows is newer than the one i'm trying to install. This is why I'm positive I had it before msblast. I still remember day it was RC1

You may have been running SP2, but it wasn't RC1. RC1 is build 2096, which wasn't available to anyone up until the past few weeks. This is because 2096 didn't exist until the last few weeks.

Also, XP SP2 should not be succeptible to blaster because the firewall is configured to block the ports it uses by default. There are also changes to the RPC implementation that prevent blaster.

Umm, is this a bug or a feature? I can't get a context menu in Outlook Express when viewing e-mails. I can highlight txt, but right-clicking doesn't give me squat from either the preview pane or in its own window. Ctrl+C will snag it though, and the option is available from Edit in the menu bar. Also, I have it set to view in plain text.

6.0.2900.2096 SP2

Thanks, does it fix the IE6 SP1 issue where it fails to fully display webpage images for some people?

I have worked with three others who installed it - and all have removed it. It has great security features, and all programs run except Corel Word Perfect Suite 11 - it suddenly runs like it is mired in mud - looks like another Microsoft attempt to kill the competition. And, they feel there is too much automatic update - experience has shown that even Critical Updates can be mucked up. So - it is best to wait if you have a perfect running system.

DON'T COMPLAIN GUYS!

A beta version is, well, a BETA! You, the installers, are the guinea pigs.

I'm sure you knew that BEFORE installing it, didn't you?

Folks, I cannot stress this enough. REPORT BUGS!

There is a handy icon on the desktop that links to the reporting form.

Remind me again how Microsoft is as secure as Novell.....geee thats right it isnt! Novell is the best for Directory services, Microsoft cant touch them and they know it, AD is based on the novell "tree" setup.
Dont knock the most secure and stable NOS around....

War's over dude. The South, betamax, and Novell all lost. Jumping up and down on your tiny little soapbox watching the world walk away won't help.

AD isn't based on novell either. Learn more than just the two directory services and you'll understand.

Recovery console, navigate to your $ntservicepackuninstall$ folder and use the RC "Batch" command to rollback.

SP2 RC1 has not been out that long. It wasn't even in beta then. You were using some warez and someone lied to you. Sorry.

Installed it.. I love all the new features. One problem however is when I leave my PC on over night with the screensaver running my screen goes black. It has never happen while In use. I restart my computer using the "reset" button, check error logs and it reports nothing unusual. I don't know what the problem is and it never started to happen until I installed SP2. Windows update doesnt work either.
