Wine for gaming on linux?

I've been thinking about running dual boot on my desktop. I've replaced windows on my laptop with ubuntu and am pleasantly pleased that I can be as productive as if I had windows. Well, productivity aside, how is gaming on linux? I've read about wine and it seems buggy. I play (cs:s, bf2, hitman)

So you should turn off the lights when you use the software? I mean it is good as long as you don't see what you're doing?

I think I'll stick to dual boot and use windows for managing music, photos, using photoshop, encoding dvds and games.

You'll find some native Linux games and some that will work under Wine or Cedega but your best bet is to stick with Windows for gaming. Even most of the Linux gurus will recommend dual booting Linux & Windows for those who game.

What exactly is your definition of "as productive"? What do you use ubuntu for, just browsing?

word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, I run some engineering apps like matlab off of it too.
