Ok I'm thinking of upgrading from the K7S5A v1.0 to the WinFast K7NCR18D (nforce2) and buying the XP 2400. I've read reviews about it and it seems that it is a great board but the sites don't really elaborate on problems they may have had. And there really arn't that many posts on anandtech about the board either.

For everyone that has had experience with the board can you please post your problems and dislikes about the board. And I'm also not looking for just negitive comments so If anyone has any good experience with it I would also appreciate it if you would also post.

Thanks

Just for refrence here is what my setup would be after the upgrade:

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Motherboard: Leadtek K7NCR18D
Memory: 768 MB of Crucial (Micron) DDR2100
Video Card: LeadTek WinFast Titanium 500 TD (GeForce3 TI500)
Hard Drive: Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 80.0 GB @ 7200 RPMS
CDROM Manufacturer & Model: Pioneer 106S DVD-ROM Slot Loading
CDR/CDRW Manufacturer & Model: Plextor 24/10/40A
Operating System: XP Pro

hello i also am going to build a new system around this motherboard im using the k7ncr18d-pro

ive got a post on here about it if u want to look it up and read all the comments

the ONLY negative thing i have ever heard about this board is that its not the best overclockers board
as it doesnt let u change the multiplier but in my case thats no problem
i did extensive amounts of research and this was the most stable/best priced board i could find
if u want to overclock ide recomend asus

peace

i have the pro version and i love it. the only gripes i have are minor. the power connecter is located right under the cpu socket, which gets in the way of the cpu (hard to explain, you'd have to see it). the ide connectors are on the bottom of the board making it a stretch to get to drives up top. not a big deal if you have a small case. my biggest gripe is the manual sucks. it doesn't say which dimm slots to populate in order to take advantage of dualddr(twinbank) memory and the bios can get rather cryptic because there aren't any explainations for the settings in the manual. all in all, none of these gripes would keep me from recommending this board.

I have the Antec SX1000 (standard Alienware style) and I put my Cd-roms at the top because they hit the capactors if I put them any lower. Think I will have a problem? HDD is at the bottom so that isn't a problem.

i have the same case, but what's a capactor? i have my dvd/cdrw in the bottom two slots and they don't hit anything.

i have the K7NCR18D Pro too. Its pretty nice. Very stable board. And somewhat overclockable too. You can adjust everything except for the multipliers. THe PCI/AGP clock is locked at 33/66 also. For $115, its a great board! No complains.

actually no its not. the two that are seperate from the single one are 1 & 2 (then 3 is the one by itself). in order to enable dualddr you have to use 1 & 3.
