WinFixer

I think there's some sort of virus on my computer because every few minutes I keep getting a pop-up from WinFixer telling me to buy their anti-spy software and anti-virus software. Do you guys have any experience with WinFixer, and is it worth spending $39.95 for it to get rid of their own pop-ups?

1) Use Firefox for browsing and Thunderbird for e-mail.

2) Download some anti-virus software. Choose one of the two free choices here:

3) Great free firewall
http://www.zonelabs.com/ -- Choose "Home products" and plain "ZoneAlarm" on the left-hand bard

4) Anti-spyware program. Three are free. Get all three of them:

:disgust:WinFixer IS spyware, malware, a virus, a pain in the a$$, pick one.

Good luck getting rid of it. If I had one of the developers close by, I would be in court for bashing in what little brains they have.

There should be laws against what they do!

@$%^&! winfixxer...Them and their shens. Wernt they hauled off into court for this just recently. I assure you that if you see winfixxer pop ups the spyware that is causing this came direclty from them and it is a pain in the hole to remove depending what version of it is.

The security thread in the software forum is a really good resouce about finding/fixing all that stuff, including winfixer.

Get Spybot and AdaWare, they are free, and do a pretty good job of removing spyware, when using both. Better than most pay programs.

Oh, and the security thread is calling your name if that doesn't work.

Your infected with spyware known as winfixer, it does nothing to fix your system, it's spyware that tries to get you to pay for it to do nothing but continue to advertise to you. I believe if you download a trial of spysweeper, from webroot.com and do a full scan that is generally sucessful at removing it, you may need to run your computer in safe mode while doing so though.

LoL! WinFixer is the installer for Virtuamonde and others! Its nasty malware that does all kinds of things to your PC.
