Hey everyone, after reading a few build threads on this forum, and encouraged to make one by JLee, I've decided to join the forum and make a thread on my swap.

I started with a 1986 Toyota MR2 with a leaky 280k engine, but is 99% rust free and got for a steal of a deal. I was originally going to put a boosted 4age into it, but found a 3sgte for a good deal, and so the project began.

Started by bringing the Gen2 3sgte JDM (1993) motor home, and further burying the Mr2 into the garage.. It will need a head gasket replaced, that I'm getting from JLee actually. ()

After I had the engine, I did some more searching and found a trans locally, and a CT20b turbo for a good price.

At this point I needed to get the MR2 out of the buried state in my garage and into the sunshine! Still this took the better part of a day as my garage was a mess with engine blocks and trans everywhere...

The New Mexico sun has taken its toll on it, but just oxidation on the paint. No big deal as it will be getting new coatings eventually... :wub:

And so I started in the logical fashion of starting to drop the tired 4age out of the current car. I got about half way through it today, but got held up for a few hours by 6-7 people from around the neighborhood stopping by and asking about it. Apparently I have fans haha...

So tomorrow will (hopefully) be the day that the 4age comes out, and I can start prepping the engine bay for the new mounts and engine

I still have a lot to buy, as my engine is missing a few pieces, and money is on the short side. However things will be coming in slowly, and my goal is to finish the swap near the end of summer (Augustish).

EDIT: what are you missing? I have a few parts lying around and just dropped out my 2nd gen. Pay for the shipping and Ill hook a brother up.

What an interesting last few days. Had a lot going on so I was only able to pull the engine a little every day. Also, every motor mount bolt was seized worse than my rusted 87 /: So there was a little bit of cutting that ended up being involved.

The car ended up looking like this for quite a few nights

Fairly simple work though, and little by little it got there

And eventually, hello and goodbye useless brick

I am leaving the country on Wednesday, so not much will get accomplished for a week or two, however I have parts on the way and some interesting things in the works.

Maybe before I leave I will cut the mounts out of the bay and clean it up a little, prepare it for a bit of paint necessary to the master plan hehehe...

Also Fuzzy, I'm still in the process of making a list. Just things like alternator, 2nd gen exhaust manifold, all the intake pieces past the manifold, ecu, axles, harness, dizzy, and I'm sure I'm missing quite a bit too.

I have two 3SGTE ECUS. part numbers 89661-17320 and 89661-17331. You can have those free99 if you pay shipping.

I have a CT20B on my 2nd gen that I wont be using anymore. Its still in excellent shape. You can have manifold, turbo, and a berk catless downpipe, but that wont be free. maybe $350usd + shipping?

When you say intake pieces past the manifold, do you mean you are missing the gaskets and TVIS? or do you mean intake pieces from before intake manifold, like intercooler and piping?

EDIT: did you engine come with igniter and coil, and all the other tidbits?

I have a ct20b, manifold, and downpipe so I appreciate it but wont be needing them.

I mean before intake manifold yes. I don't have the throttle body, piping, maf, etc...

And no my engine did not, I'm still on the hunt for a dizzy, starter, alty, igniter and coil, etc.
