WinME upgrade or full version, which should i get???

i've asked this question before but need my mem refreshed, $389 Aus, for the full version is a rip off. can i buy the upgrade version too do a fresh clean install? i've got my old win98 original disk still. explain how too do this the easy way.
also does the upgrade version contain the same as the full version, i.e. drivers and accesories?

Yes, buy the upgrade and do a clean install. They are exactly the same except the upgrade searches for a previous version of Windows. Actually, it only searches for one file, so you can even create that after booting from DOS and go from there. But it only takes a minute to swap in your Win98 CD anyway. Depending on what you've got, WinME isn't necessarily going to offer you much more. My Win98 used to crash at least once a day, just by surfing the internet, but WinME is very stable (not as much as Win2000 though).

To be on the safe side, it is always safer to do a clean install with the full version. I have never had good luck with upgrades. Iam currently running the full install version of win me and it works great.

Start with a win98 startup diks, access the cd-rom drive in dos, and double click on the setup file. When prompted for a previous version of windows, just pop in the win98 cd.

As Topher said, just boot from the Win2k disk, when it searches for a previous installation of Windows and can't find one, stick in the Win98 CD and point the search thingie to your CD-ROM drive.

Yes, it works with the stepup version, also, but only if you have the original Win98/Win98SE CD.

Win98 cdrom (original) for detection purposes,that is all.
