We keep hearing this same excuse every election cycle, you'd think Democrats would get tired of making it. Bill Clinton sure as hell wasn't bitching about poor whites voting against their self interest, he got them to vote for it. Now Bill Clinton is as elite as they come in terms of education and intellect, but he was never lecturing and demagoguing, he was explaining in detail what he was going to do for those people and why. He didn't run in 92 as Hope and Change candidate, oh no, he ran as the Economy candidate, an issue on top of the agenda for for the working class. If his slogan was Obama's "It's the Change, stupid" instead of "It's the Economy, stupid" we probably would have had a HW Bush 2nd term.

It's funny watching seseamp get himself in to a tizzy over Billary. Sheesh, nobody should be this in love with a politician.

That's funny coming from an Obama supporter.

That doesn't fit your "never win" postulate. As to never winning, the Clintons won the AK governorship, the presidency, and the NY Senate races. They do win, and often. They didn't win the big prize this time, but she will leave this race having won about half the votes cast. That's nothing to be embarrassed about. BO needs her to campaign for him. Absolutely needs her. And of course she will.

To suggest she's now in this for the money is pathetic and I have yet to see one reputable person suggest that's her current goal.

Of course you'll blame everyone but Obama and his supporters for the outcome. Obamabots will be crying that their poor Messiah (Obama) got betrayed by Judas (Clinton), and crucified by the Romans(McCain). It's going to be Hillaryous

Believe it or not, some of us who prefer Obama over Clinton actually are working class whites. And even more shockingly, you may conclude, not all of us think he (or any politician, for that matter) is a messiah. In fact, some of us think all politicians are essentially full of crap, but that he is the one we've determed is slightly less so than his current opponents.

As for "blame..." last I checked, we all have the right to vote for whomever we choose for whatever reasons we choose (and, of course, to have our votes more or less nullified by the electoral process... but that's another topic altogether). Do I disagree with those who prefer Clinton and/or McCain over Obama? Sure. But the schoolyard mentality of the most rabid supporters of each candidate is far more objectionable, in my opinion, than are the candidates, themselves.

Whoever wins in the Fall, believe it or not, some good decisions are going to be made, some bad decisions are going to be made, and the status quo is going to be more or less maintained. And the sooner that all of you who so quickly lump everyone who disagrees with you together and dismisses them, in my opinion, the better. In the meantime, it's amusing to watch each side of this idiotic argument lambast the other when it's painfully obvious that they're two sides of the same coin.

"Obamabots..." "Hitlery..." Hell, if this is indicative of how a strictly popular vote would go, then maybe I'm wrong and an electoral college system is needed, after all.

 nicely done! The irony is that Obama has used much of the same rhetoric -- many of the exact same slogans -- as Bill Clinton used in 1992. For some strange reason, Hillary started off the primaries going in a different direction...

What I think is strange is all the 'elitist' arguments leveled at Obama. I can't remember who said it, but I think it was Jon Stewart. Isn't the presidency a place where we WANT someone elite? I'll never get why people want to elect someone 'just like them' as the president. I for one want the smartest, best person around.

When did elitist become synonymous with the smartest, best person around?

Probably some time before Merriam-Webster wrote it in a book.

I still think much of this thread is still driven by the GOP dream that the dems will emerge with a greatly weakened candidate as Hillary and Obama are doing the job McCain would normally have to do in the general election.

Now its clear that Obama will win, and I think many many Republicans are going to discover, to their own shock and dismay,
that the dems will unite behind Obama as the entire nation rejects the policies of McCain.

It's gonna be a real shame when the rule committee meets on the 31st and allows FL and MI into the race pushing the required delegate race even higher.

"Shame" isn't a strong enough word -- doing so would be borderline criminal. :|

FL and MI would move the total pledged delegates to 3566 (up from 3253) so either HRC or BHO would need 1784 to claim a majority of pledged delegates.

HRC currently has 1442.5 pledged delegates while Hussein has 1612.5. HRC would net 51 delegates from the addition of FL and MI bringing her total up to 1611.5 while Secret-Muslim would have 1729.5.

Rev. Wright's congregant would then be 54.5 pledged delegates short before tonight's contests where he's expected to get just 43 delegates, putting him 11.5 short.

So...if on May 31, FL and MI are told they'll be seated, the FRESHMAN senator from Illinois will no longer be in possession of a majority of the pledged delegates...

...he'll have to wait 24 hours for Puerto Rico's primary to get it back

Hilarious? I would say it's childish that Hillary supporters when given a choice between a candidate that shares most of her values versus one that shares few, would vote for the latter out of spite.

Isn't that the truth? I laugh when I see someone driving around in a 20 year old car that's probably not safe to be on the road with a W04 or Bush/Cheney sticker on it. The guy driving it probably doesn't have 2 nickels to rub together but he supports the party that couldn't care less about people living in poverty.

Well hey, as long as the powers that be uphold the "sanctity of marriage" they can care less. They obviously vote with their bibles and not with their wallets.
