WinNT and large disk?

Hi,
I'm having problems configuring my new IBM Drive (307045) to full capacity under WinNT. I have an old BIOS (Award 4.51) which only recognizes 32 Gig. I tried the Dynamic Drive Overlay driver from DiskGo which works fine for my old drive
and Win95 but aparently WinNT does not suport this. With the
Service Pack 6a installed it also only recognizes 32 Gig.
My question is, if anybody knows a workaround without
buying a new Motherboard? Would Win2000 change anything
here?

Try updating your bios for your MB. Then you can get rid of that blasted overlay software.

I did update my BIOS, before it would only recognize 8 Gig.
IBM says that with Award 4.51 only DDO would work.
Probably bad luck!

Any jumpers on the drive that may cap it at 32GB?

Just don't forget to keep your boot partition less than 7.6 gigs... or NT will freak on you and tell you to go to hell.

Solution: Promise Card- Will see HD, cheaper, and will give u ATA 66/100 capability

NT 4 has a limit of 8GB on the C:\ (or Boot) partition. If the boot partition > 8GB NT will not boot. If you have SP4 or higher you can have other partitions larger than 8GB but not the C:\.
Update: Just reread your post and misunderstood your problem... Looks like you are being limited by your older BIOS to 32GB max. Recommend new mobo or look into the Promise ATA/66 card as suggested.

I just don't understand why the people who
make the BIOS don't think ahead a little more,
as it is the second time this happend to me.

Any suggestions in regard to the new BIOS?

FWIW, I have two NT4 systems with 27GB volumes for drive C:. I used PartitionMagic to created the volumes before installing NT4.

As far as BIOS makers being forward thinking, a few prominent folks thought we'd never need more than 4MB of RAM.
