WinRAR Question

winrar gives me a crc error every time I try and extract a file from an archive. Now the SFV file that my friend made suggests that the files are fine. Is there any way to extract the file anyway? Winrar deletes it after it notifies you that the file has the error. Is there any other extraction program that would extract the file if winrar cant?

Does it have a recovery record? If so, you can hit the big red cross in the toolbar to repair it.

Are you overclocking? I ask because if the SFV file shows that they are fine;a overclocked cpu will give crc errors when overclocked too much.

does it give you a crc error for a specific file in the archive? one of the files might be incomplete.

It does no give any reference to a specific file. The error I receive is "1 CRC failed The file is corrupt". My computer is overclocked but I never have had a problem with the stability of hte machine or the stability of any programs that related to overclocking. I have a dual 366@561 running win2k.

Put your cpus at 366 & try again,If it extract fine then your cpus were not as stable as you seem to think.

If the SFV file says they are fine then it must be your cpu.

Whenever it was a particular archive file winrar would stop at that file. This time it finishes going through all the files and then gives me the error.

will try budman. I have had this setup running 24/7 for about a year and a half. Ever since th eBP6 was first released.

If the SFV ( System file verifier) checks out then all the files are intact. Maybe trying a differen version of Winrar might do it, Try the latest Beta .

Im extracting as I write. I dont think i ever ran these processors at stock speed. The computer is noticeably slower. Jfall was right there is a check box to keep broken files. Its on the little window when you click on extract.



the extraction just completed and the computer did not give me an error so I guess you were right budman. My computer is less stable than I thought.

Yes rar files are very sensitive to an unstable cpu,sometimes games & apps workd very well but rar is a very good test to see if your cpu is 100% stable. Maybe you should drop them to 550 & test the rars again to see if it's good at that speed. 550 isnt that slow.

I have used winrar before and never had any problems. This time the file was very large and that might have had something to do with it. That was a good call though. I thought I knew everything, guess not..
