The WinTV-PVR-250 brings live TV to your PC screen. With it's 125-channel cable ready TV receiver, you can watch TV in a resizeable window or full screen while you work on your PC.

I saw it somewhere else. FW is not the only deal site in the world.

You're right FW isn't the only hot deals site in the world

He could have meant he saw it on FW and was going to post it.

i am getting ready to build my first htpc using the ms media 2005 i got in my action pack. I have a biostart cube i am going to use with a 2800+ barton, 512 of memory. Question is, do i need a better gcard than what is onboard? Do you use the TV out on the Hauppage card or the gcard?

Thanks for the advice...

I have always wondered how these work with cable companys that scramble all of the channels. And I assume that they dont work at all with Satelite, since there is a seperate receiver to bring in the channels, and the tuner in the card would be not needed.

Very simple, you connect it through the tuner box, and use something called an IR blaster that allows the computer to change the channel on the tuner.

And yes, these do work with satellite receivers.

Works fine with our cable channels (analog cable, no digital cable box).

You use the TV out on your Video card. The PVR 250 has an S~Video "IN" port.

The PVR 250 is a 'capture card/tuner), it will not descramble channels or @ least I know of no hack that would do it.

Apex, what TV capture software do you like (other than PVR BeyondTV and SageTV)?

How does this compare to the PVR 150 (which isn't readily available yet). I haven't been able to find a 'differences' list between the 2, but they seem pretty similar except the 150 has an added radio tuner.

I guess this is compusa clearing out 250's before the 150 arrive, but not sure if I should wait. $80 is a good price, but I don't think the 150 will cost more than $100.

The 150 is going to be around the $70 price point, from what I understand. Video quality will most likely be slightly superior, otherwise their roughly equal with the exception that there is no current Linux support for the 150.

How does this compare to a ReplayTV? I've got an HTPC (with XP Home), and was wondering how the video quality might compare... Also, while it's easy to send recorded shows over a network, it's hard to use any video from the ReplayTV because its MPEG implementation requires that a special codec be used... I imagine that this isn't a problem with the WinTV PVR?

Thanks
