anyone else have this problem? i just let windows xp update everything to the newest using the windows update utility. now my system lags like crazy when i open internet explorer... anyone else having that problem?
their not set to auto update, its set for me to update it. so it doesnt just update without me telling it to. google toolbar, its not installed, just plain ie. somethings up with them new updates messing up the cpu usage, cause my friend got the same problem.
Roll back to before installing the updates, and install a couple, reboot, and see what happens. If nothing's wrong, keep doing it. It'll take a while, but please, please post your findings if you find the culprit so others can benefit from it
I too had the same problem. I had been using WinXP for some time and when I installed SP1 it lagged so slow, it took more than 20 bars (at boot time) for windows to load. To overcome this, I installed the version of Win XP with SP1 builtin.
Alternatevly, format your HD, re-install WinXP and install SP1 as the first thing (before you install any other programs). Restore (or whatever) your data back.
I would have recommended removing that update, but some people have been saying that it's fixed now. Besides, it's my magic cure to anything XP & speed-related

I found this.If you update your pc and it slows down, this could be the cause:
Hotfix Q811493 http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,110385,00.asp
Uninstall this update,i did and my pc improved in speed alot.
i uninstalled that and still have the ghetto ie laggin problem. i reallllllly dont want to format, but ill keep uninstalling more and see what happens. its not critical that i fix it asap, cause it only lags when i have ie open. everything else works as usual.
