Bloated? All you need to do is install uxtheme.dll and you can use any visual style you want from themexp.org, customize.org, etc... There are so very cool, sleek and minimal themes. I can't believe you guys actually use the default or Royale crap. Those look like sh*t. Especially the bigass window borders.
Yeah sometimes a new shell can be cool, but it's hard finding a good one. So I just stick with visual styles and switch them up every now and then.
Not really.Does the Windows Classic theme really make a difference on system performance?

What turned me away from the third party shells is that none of them really fit and work perfectly with windows and all applications. For example litestep doesn't cooperate well with full screen 3d apps.

*remembers how his litestep bars would stay visible even in a fullscreen game, overlaying parts of the screen*
*remembers deleting litestep*

That's what I use.
That sounds right. The visual styles you have in that directory should appear under the Appearance tab where it says Windows and Buttons. Nice choice on CodeOpus. It's my favorite visual style, and the couple different colors are good. I will only use a compact visual style too, which codeopus thankfully has.Originally posted by: de8212
I installed UXTheme Multi-Patcher (Neowin Edition) 2.5.1. Found a them at deviantart and put it in the designated folder (wondows/resources/themes) but I don't see anything under the display properties to indicate it's there.
btw the theme is here, if someone can take a look.

I am running the Plex Slate Longhorn theme, I used to get my themes from themexp.org, but they started wrapping 90% of them with spyware. www.belchfire.net is my new home for themes, and I use style xp as my manager.
