SO Im trying to go from my old 36G Raptor to my new 150G Raptor.
All I did was unplug the old one and plug the new one right back in it's place.
This problem seems to be fairly common as I see lots about it on the web. Unfortunately after an entire night of trying myself, I was not able to find a solution that worked for me so thats what brings me here.
I do see the topic just a few threads down about this kind of problem, but the solution presented there doesnt work for me.
When I try loading windows without adding drivers via the "F6" thing I get the cannot find Hard Drives message.
HOwever when I actually do try the drivers via F6, they seem to install fine but as Windows tries to continue on the same message comes up.
I can see the drives in the BIOS post messages, though I dont beleive I see them anywhere in the BIOS itself, for sure they are not there listed as "Western Digital" or anything...
I disabled the promise raid controller, but nowhere do I see a spot to actually ENABLE SATA.
I have my HDDS plugged into the proper SATA ports on my MoBo (same ports I had my 36G on which worked fine)
MY BIOS version is up to date.
The drivers I have tried loading were in the 378SATA, and 378RAID (tried these just to exhaust all possibilities) which are both found on the CD that came with my MoBo.
The only other thing that is different from my previous 36G that I can see is that there is absolutely no plastic jumper thingy, where there is one on my second WD drive and also on my old 36 (one jumper sitting at factory settings) Do I need to steal the jumper from my old 36 and put it on the same spot but on my new 150?
Does it matter that Ive just left my 120 Caviar hookoed to the system as it was with my 36G without touching it? (is full of data) Doesnt seem like an issue to me but Im just trying to elilminate as much as possible.
I think Ive covered everything significant but may have missed something.
Im really at a loss here and I have tried troubleshooting this all night, Im hopin someone here will be able to give me a hand.
