WinXP reboot issues

Hey all.
It's been a while since I have been around, but I am sure that I can still get some great answers.

I have looked and searched around the net about my problem, and I can't seem to get a straight answer. Others have suggested everything from new Power supplies to having a boot sector virus to pulling the registry out and modifying it in a different computer following a 20 step process. So I hope to get more of a definate answer.

Windows reboots at startup screen automaticly

I have run Anti Virus and Malware programs in Safe Mode to try and clean the machine to no avail.
I thought I would see what your thoughts where as to what was causing the issue. Could this be something that could be easly fixed? Or something I would be better off reinstalling?

boot in safe mode F8 and go into the local group policy
start run MMC
add remove snap in

Check under computer configuration/ scripts startup/shutdown

There might be something in there causing it to reboot

or it could be a hardware issue like ram

Yeah we need more help. It sounds more like a simple Blue scree reboot. My first suggestion would be to remove the auto reboot, right click my computer -> properties -> advanced tab -> start up and recovery settings. Remove the check from Automatically restart. This will allow you to see the error, SOMETIMES they are semi usefull. Such as UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, or IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Those can be clues, albeit vague ones.

Pollardhimself is right, it could be hardware related, HDDs going bad can do this, failing RAM, failing video. We need to narrow it down. Anything in the system logs? usually not unless windows is actually running but doesnt hurt to check.
