I bought Windows XP Pro once and didn't feel like getting extra licenses for all 5 of my pc's, so i got a reg hack.

I bassically generates a unique reg Code so you can install Updates.

Anyways, I've heard that SP2 may lock you out of your PC if its a hacked install.

Is this true? I'm allready using SP2 RC1, and was wondering if RC2 was safe.

Thanks as always for ur help,

So basically your pirating 4 copies of Windows XP Pro because you feel you are not obligated to purchase them for your other PCs. And you want help pirating them? That's a good way to get booted from the board. This should be locked any minute now.

I don't feel that i'm pirating Windows, I'm using what i paid for. If i buy windows for use in a home enviroment, i don't feel like i should have to register and pay for every PC i use it on.

Better read the EULA again. It doesn't matter what you "feel". The license states you need to own a copy of Windows XP Pro for each machine you put it on. By clicking on I agree your bound to that agreement. The fact that you don't "feel" you need to purchase a new copy for each machine is irrelavent.

I can't believe what I'm reading here :Q. Someone admits to having a pirated copy of M$WIN. I'd give you credit, you're brave!

I'm getting a car stereo for one of my cars, only for personal use, now i don't feel that i should have to pay for another stereo for the other car so i'll just steal another one.

Alright i'll admit that its probably...no definatley agnst the EULA, but i can't justify spending $750-$1000 for 5 copies of Windows XP Profesional.

I have one pc for myself, on gateway pc, one for my wifes business, one for my kid, i guess thats only 4 not 5. Sorry for the bad math

You realize how insane the fee is for pirated software in a business right? Wait, let me guess... the one "legitimate" copy is the one on her business machine right?

I'm curious! How did you do that? Will it play games such as: Halo, Star Wars: Jedi Academy, KOTOR, etc? Please let me know when you can, I'm very intersted!

It is DEFINENTLY against the EULA, why else would you need a hack to register it?

So just because you don't want to spend the money you feel it's ok to steal? I guess that is the mindset of every thief though, isn't it?

Winex helps a lot but more and more games are coming out that are linux compatible.

Drag made an excellent post regarding this a while back, search for it if you want to know more.

What? Someone else is smart enough to create and market something for the masses and you aren't. So it's ok to ignore copyright, ownership, and just good manners because you're too poor to buy it? Get some respect for the works other people put their time, effort, and intelligence into. You play with their toys, you play by their rules. Either pay for it, or don't use it.

You know you don't have to use it right? You know you could have stuck with the OS on the system. OoOOoOoOooh look at the leet pirate! He has cracked versions of Windows XP.

Really, what if all the work your wife did was suddenly being used by her biggest competitor? You'd be cool with it right? I mean, why should they spend money to get the work done when they can just take the work your wife did?

I don't understand how you can take someone else's work, use it however you want, and still sleep at night. It doesn't make sense. It's worth paying for once, it's worth paying for all of the time. Pirating the software does not make you cool, or elite, or even a really nice guy. It makes you even more of an idiot. If you aren't willing to pay for it, don't use it.

EDIT: Removed some of the more tasteless parts of my post. Where's the BSA when you need them?

n0cmonkey, regardless of what you feel about the guy's ethics, it's in really bad taste to call his wife a witch, and it doesn't help your argument.

As for Bill Gates or Microsoft losing money off pirated products... well, boo-hooo, look how bad they're doing because of it. Personally, I have no sympathy for Microsoft and their tactics - and whether you buy or pirate their OS, the result is still market domination large enough to give Gates his power. Most industry analysts will agree.

Thanks, missed that one.

That's not the point. The point is, Microsoft has the copyrights there. He is actively breaking the copyrights. If no one can have copyrights, it puts us all in a bad situation.

If you use it, you're supporting them in one way or another. If you pirate it, you show lack of respect for everyone.

Did you ever break a law in order to protest against one thing or another? Think long and hard. Then throw the first stone.
