So what are those 2 gifts they offer?

And what are the 5 free gifts you get for registering?

I like Wired...

from reputable sellers on ebay you can get 3,4,5 years of wired for $8-$13....just a fyi.....

this is true of most magazines....you can usually find them much cheaper on ebay....

Has Wired gotten a LOT better lately? I was a charter subscriber (got a free year when it first started - can't remember how) and I thought it really sucked and never renewed. I thought most of the articles were pretty much fluff (no susbstance) that were written to try and sound hip, but didn't quite carry it off.

IMHO it's about the only magazine I read almost cover-to-cover. Even subscribe to it on my Palm for free via AvantGo. It's definitely not fluff anymore. It's more like news mag from a tech/geek perspective.

Thanks for the eBay tip; I just bought a 3-year subscription to WIRED for $8.99, including shipping, from user "blueskymagazines".

WIRED used to be unreadable, but they've matured. The Jan. '04 issue has a number of fascinating articles ranging from an AI program used in RETURN OF THE KING to new horizons in hair restoration (which I don't need ).

how is it that they can offer these subs for such low prices? Are they resellers for the magazines or something?

But yeah, ebay is definitely the way to go.

I've been using Bestdealmagazines for almost 2 years now. I've never had any problems or spam (that I know of) come from them.
As for WIRED magazine? I like it. Most techies will like it.
If you like WIRED pick up Discover Magazine, Popular Science, and Maximum PC. I haven't been able to find Computer Power User (CPU) for cheap yet but I would suggest that one as well.

I don't know, but it's a Buy IT Now price of $5 with free shipping!!! The seller also has 99.6% satisfaction in nearly 1000 reviews...sounds reliable to me...

Im curious too as how this works. I'm looking at the other magazines this guy has, and it seems like it's a cheap risk to take for high gain reward. Anyone know the 'real story' behind this or is it 100% legit?

I emailed him before and the guy said that he gets it's off this magazine subscription agency and all the agency really cares about he said was their customer base. The more readers to the mag, the more they can charge for their ads, i guess that's there main source of income...they also hope that ppl would renew their subscription by the end at a more 'regular' price...
