OK, this is OT and should be in i wanna, but while we're at it, I'd like to just throw in my two cents about wireless networking. I HATE IT. Hrm, that's about it.
It'd be cheaper if you went the HomePNA route. HPNA2.0 can xfer at 10mbps over the existing phoneline. There are filters out there to help u split the signals too to make data transfer faster and phone conversations clearer (not to an astounding degeree, but the filters are cheap).
If you search for PNA in this forum you'll find something on a firewall/router for HPNA networks. It acts like a bridge from your cable/dsl to phoneline for only about 40 bucks shipped from J&R. I just recently bought mine, so I don't know how good it is.
Well more on why I hate wireless. My dad's computer is in the next room and the signal is already medium strength. It transfers very slow and sometimes when you download large files it stops. Maybe it's my 2.4ghz phones in the house that interfere with it, but I highly doubt that. At any rate, I really do suggest you go with HomePNA, not only is it more efficient and reliable, it's also a great deal cheaper. PCI HPNA cards cost about ~30 each. I'd recommend you go to YesMicro.com and get the netgear cards. Fast shipping, ordered mine and got it the next day. One of my HPNA cards broke as well and they sent me a replacement right away.
If you still go with wireless, PM me and tell me how it goes. I really would like my wireless stuff to work
