Wireless Broadband to Home LAN

I?m interested in getting a high speed internet to my house, but there is no cable or DSL line available at this time. There is however, a company offering wireless broadband, and I was wondering how you would connect a home LAN to a wireless broadband connection. Would you use the same type of router/hub that you would use with a cable connection? I was also wondering what the best security solution would be. I?m a newbie to wireless connections, and to forums in general, and would appreciate any help that any of you ?old timers? could provide!

Different carriers provide this type of service in different ways; you have to find out what the final connection to your computer is, and what method they use for authentication (Password).

If the final connection is external Ethernet with no Password, or using MAC number, or PPPOE protocol, then regular Cable/DL Router will probably work.

You should try to stay away from any internal device.

The way I have my network setup is this:

Echoicemi is my provider, who provides a wireless connection. I bought a wireless cable modem from them. (Vyyo v251) That has a 10Base-T connection or USB. They make you use the RJ45 because in order for any info to pass through their system out their T1's it must be a certain MAC address. So I have a Linksys Cable/DSL router and thats uplinked to the modem. They only allow the MAC addy of my linksys to connect to their system. (security reasons) From there on everyone can share the connection.
