Wireless cameras

I work for a small non-profit. Looking to put something basic near the entrances. Something that can snap a pic when it detects motion and then send it to an email. Would also want the option to record video to a computer hard drive if we ever wanted to, as well as check on it remotely. I've never worked with these types of cameras before. Was thinking Foscom or D-Link. Suggestions? Non-profit is the key word here as we are not able to afford an expensive security system.
Thanks

I thought someone in this sub-forum would have one of these and have suggestions. Is there a different sub-forum that is better suited? I didn't see anything related to this, maybe peripherals?

Don't do wireless, between bandwidth and security issues they aren't worth it. Stick with wired. If you want to actually be able to identify someone then you are going to have to go with a decent IP system. I started with a traditional system but it was basically useless. Yes, you could see what was going on but identifying anyone would be difficult. Upgraded to IP and it was vastly improved.

Also motion detection is highly dependent on the quality of camera. To get something that is reliable isn't going to be cheap. Most systems offer the functionality but your going to get a ton of false alerts unless you spend to get something good. I ended up with a Qsee system and am happy with it.

Like above, cheaper cameras do have issues. I've used Dlink cameras and while they are very affordable and offer some nice features you really have to tune the sensitivity and the detection zones or you'll be getting emails whenever the lighting changes or the wind blows a tree.

If you really need to see good quality get a camera that can do at least 720 (IP camera) or 600-900TVL for CCTV.

I have a Foscam FI8918W IP camera, and recently purchased the DCS-5222L.
It seems that the foscam has better picture quality, and better colors, and wider field of view.
