wireless connection between two routers?

I'm sure this has been explained before. I can't intelligently search since I really don't know the lingo and didn't have any luck. Sorry for that.

What I would like to do:

----phone cable---->|DSL wireless router|~~~~wireless~~~~>|MR314 wireless router|====ethernet cables====>|2 computers|

Hopefully this is clear.

The router wont connect wirelessy to your other router, you will need a Wireless Access point, and chock that to a router.

Unless the access point already comes with a 4 port ethernet switch.

This Netgear info page on the MR314 reports that it is an access point?

Very few Entry Level Wireless Cable/DSL Routers can talk one to the other (95% can Not do it).

Unless the data sheet lists the Router as a WDS:thumbsup: (or having the capacity to be configured as a Client, Group Bridge, or a repeater).
It will not talk to another Wireless Router.:thumbsdown:

The LinkSys WRT54g can do what you want it to if you get the 3rd part firmware. In fact that what a lot of people on AT do.

Actually no. You want bridging funtionality. Most budget AP's will bridge and that's why it was suggested. The device that says it's an AP is in fact an AP, it just cannot bridge.

Access Points can differ in their configuration capacities (varies form 2 to 5 modes).

Wireless Cable/DSL Router are combo Router/Switch/Access Point.

However in most of them theAccess Point part is restricted to One mode, and thus can not do other "dances and songs? beside talking to a Wireless Client.
