Hi there. I have an 802.11b connection running through a router. My computer is about 8 metres away from it and has a wireless PCI card with a separate movable aerial. I got it connected fine and slapped in the WEP key. Everything seemed to be fine, and the signal never ever drops below 4/5 bars, and is usually at full strength. There's no metal meshing or mother material in the way that could cause a problem with the connection.
The problem is (maybe) that one of my neighbours has a wireless connection, and sometimes a message balloon pops up stating that there is a choice of internet connetions to use. I have set it to automatically connect to my network but since my neighbours signal strength is pretty weak it keeps popping in and out of range.
I'm not sure if it is this, but every so often the connection seems to drop, and I have to tell it to reconnect to my network, even though the signal strength never dropped below very good.
Any ideas as to why this could be happening?
i'm using XP pro, btw.
Many thanks
