I'm using Comcast Cable in the South Bay (CA). The speed is great, but my wireless connection always flutters on and off. I used to be use a DLink router, but I just switched to 54G yesterday and right now the connections are going berserk. I think I've disconnected/reconnected 5-7 times in the last hour. I actually had this problem with the DLink router as well, but it's more of 1 disconnect/hr.
The disconnects usually last 15-30 secs. Sometimes I've had major outages (for an hr or two), but that's rare (maybe every 3 weeks). I guess that's still a bad rate, but Comcast (we've had it for 3 months I thin) is the only option available here and we're getting a good price on it for now.
My signal rating is usually at 2 bars. It doesn't go down when I'm having these issues. I can always ping the routers when I have these connection problems, so I think perhaps the problem is with Comcast or the settings I'm running the router at.
What can I do to find out?
I thought it might just be my computer, but I tried out a different laptop in a different location in the house, and I noticed it woould have sporadic disconnect issues as well.
If the model numbers for the routers or cable modem is helpful, I can get that information.
