Anyone wear them here? WFH now have to deal with Teams, calls, gotomeeting, zoom and whatsapp all day I decided to get a pair airpod knockoff from Amazon and hope it will make my life easier. The pair is super easy to use, good battery life, sound great and mic is serviceable but it is very uncomfortable, I felt like walking in a cave with ear full of water..

Is airpod much more comfy? How can people wear it all day long?

I had a pair of airpods and I really liked them. They were easy to use and put in my ears. They did not sound that great, but it was much better than using wired earphones. Then I left them in my pants and ran them through the washer. They did not make it. Dead. So then I was looking for new wireless earbuds. This time I wanted to get the best sounding earbuds I could get. I did some reasearch and it seems that the Sennheiser True Momentum 2s were very good sounding. I bought them and they do sound amazing. They are not as polished as the airpods but they do sound so much better. They also have noise cancellation, which is kind of standard for the higher end earbuds.

Since the casing of airpods is made entirely out of rigid plastic, how comfy they are depends entirely on the shape of the user's own ears. Some simply can't get a good fit and they'll fall out and/or they'll leak too much and sound quality goes down the toilet (bass response in particular suffers.)

My ears fit airpods quite well, and they gave better bass overall than standard earpods. But they're still open earphones and essentially useless for anything else but phonecalls in any environment that's even a little bit noisy. Still, I rather liked my airpods and I used them for over two and a half years, by which time the batteries in them were completely shot to heck, and particularly so in the left pod. I only got about 40 minutes out of them in the end because of that extra bad battery in the left pod.

Bought airpods pro when they came out, they are pretty great at counteracting external noise actually - and in true Apple spirit pretty expensive as well. Maybe too expensive some may feel for the performance they deliver (and battery life isn't super good either one might add.) Unfortunately my ears reacted badly to the silicone tips it seems, and I developed a contact allergy which became infected in my right ear canal, so now I've had to use greasy ear drops with antibiotics and cortisone for over a week... Fun fun fun!

Not sure if the ear problems became worse or not after my airpods pro were exchanged under warranty (cracked driver issue in one of the pods - apparently this is pretty common), it feels that way. Anyhow I've not been able to use my pods now for a good while, I'll switch back to a set of ear tips that came with the pods originally and see if things get better. It would really tick me off if I can't use them, especially as they're about to gain dolby atmos support in a few months!

I've had Airpods, Jaybird X2 and X3, and some $30~ ones I got on Amazon called Soundpeats.

The Jaybirds were my favorite and had the best sound, but they were also $130. I lost my X2 and ended up getting an X3 but returned them once I realized that the codec they use introduce audio lag. I wasn't aware until I got my bluetooth adapter for my Nintendo Switch and once I did and tried the X3, it was unplayable with them to me. Since using them in an airplane was a priority it was a deal breaker and I returned them.

Then I got like 4 pairs from Amazon and all but 1 (Soundpeats) of them worked for me. They sound nearly as good as the Jaybird ones. Sure the Jaybird ones sound slightly better, but I could really only tell if you did a side by side comparison. I do think the Soundpeats have better bass than the Jaybird does though. And when playing Switch they don't have any lag so I went with them. I really mainly us them at the gym (not now though) and doing stuff like cutting the grass. They stay in the ear great and make a good seal too.

The Airpods are cool and sound good, but they kind of just sit in your ear pocket and I tried using them at the gym once and when you lie down to do exercises they dangle and just don't work well. They also don't make any kind of seal so you hear so much ambient noise which again at the gym is simply a deal breaker. No clue if they introduce audio lag or not. They are completely too much money IMO for what you get too.

These were the ones I got but looks like they aren't available anymore.

Airpod just hang on the pocket and not inside the canal like most buds? The biggest issue I have is the "in the canal" style, alot of echo and uncomfy.

Hope you have a speedy recovery, must be suck. I hate feeling of in canal, so airpod is just hanging there and pro is in canal?

Yeah I wouldn't even consider airpods ear buds. They are more "in ear headphones" than "buds". There is no noise isolation stuff or attempt to make a seal with them.

This was first gen ones so I don't know about the current ones. They pretty much fit exactly like the wired apple headphones that came with iphones for a long time, except were wireless.

A quick look on amazon I don't see a over the ear one that don't go into canal, unless you talking about over the head?

Looking at the pics in the Amazon listing I posted of those Soundpeats, every picture of them on people has them dangling under the persons ears. That is not how I wear them. I put them around my neck and over the top of my ear and curl them back into my ears. I also don't have any of those "wings" on mine they are optional. It's simply the ear bud with the fitted ear mold piece that fits me on the ear bud. And they very rarely ever fall out of my ears even when exercising.

I have really big ear canals, so ear buds are out for me. The last time I ever actually used them was with my Gameboy, and I remember how much they hurt my ears then. I have some wired Sony headphones that I've been using with my workstation, but otherwise go for the behind the head type that have ear hangers.

I got an older model of these Plantronics:

I've heard a few people tell me how they destroyed their air pods different ways. The Plantronics design is probably the most robust because everything is encased in flexible rubber.

It depends on how much the headband pushes down on the top of your skull I would say. I have a pair of wireless Logitech over-ear gaming headphones with memory foam and stuff, but it doesn't matter because they're so damn heavy. After not very long the pain in my scalp sets in and I have to take them off. Ended up buying new traditional speakers for my PC instead...

Not sure if any custom IEM maker has wireless set yet. I know you could get bluetooth wireless cable DAC from some (Audeze, they have some planar ones; the cable can fit some other custom IEMs that use the same pin out).

You could also get custom molded eartips to fit a variety of universal IEMs (Westone used to offer those).

None of that's cheap, but if you're gonna be wearing them a lot they could definitely be worth it. I'm not sure why Apple hasn't offering a custom fit version of theirs. Its not that difficult and more and more are using 3D laser scans, which Apple could offer in store.

You have that backwards then. Earbuds are ones that don't seal, while in ear ones should.

Whatever the terms are, I think my explanation is pretty easy to understand.

FWIW you can get at home custom fit kits. Basically you get some putty you can press fit in your ear and with a little trimming after it hardens you have your custom IEM.

Have they improved those? Last time I saw them it was basically molding blu-tak to fit your ear, and weren't very good. But that's been some time ago. I recall some others doing their own customs by slowly layering on acrylic.

Whatever the terms are, I think my explanation is pretty easy to understand.

Which is why the term exists so that you won't have to explain. But you do you.

I've used the amazon echo buds, and just recently got the Sony wf-1000xm3. Honestly I don't feel like the Sony's are that much better than the echo buds despite the extra cost. Both are good, but some of the features of the amazon ones are better frankly.

Received a pair of HolyHigh wireless earbuds recently, started using them about a week ago. I've been able to use them about 3 times before the last 2 times, where on both occasions the earphones have been far quieter in one ear than the other. I'd assume they were somehow damaged, but other than being used they stay in their case, and the lower volume has switched sides somehow since the last time I used them. I've messed with all of the device and computer settings I could see being the cause of this. I might be imagining it but as far as I can tell, the announcement volume (currently coming through the quieter ear) is at a decent volume, but device volume is extremely quiet on the same side. The bluetooth connection is fine.
I can't find anything for this exact issue with any wireless earbuds, let alone the brand I have, unfortunately. It's my first time using wireless so I'm pretty useless on this front!
Any idea what could have changed between using them one time to another, or any fixes?

I just stay in my office room and use the mic and the speakers on the laptop. I do have a wired headset and I could pair my bt headset to it but neither are good options for long sessions.

Jabra Elite Active E65. They lock into my ears super well and do not get uncomfortable after long periods of wear.
