Wireless flickers constantly 10 feet away

Odd problem. I have a Netgear wireless B router in my room, its elevated about 4 feet off the ground. When I am across the apartment with my Asante wireless card and laptop, it works fine. When I am in my room, it flickers in and out non-stop. Anyone have a reason for this? There isn't aything degrading the signal.

Disturbance from numerous sources is possible. Is there a water source in between? Is there another wireless router interfering with it? Cordless 2.4ghz phone? Sometimes a 900mhz phone and/or cell phone can cause a problem also if sitting close to your wireless card.
Does the router have antennas? If it does, change the direction of the antennas.

Thanks for your advice. I will try move the antenna some. As for the other solutions, there is no water (basically from my desk to my bed), I do have a cordless phone but its in a corner opposite of the desk and router, I don't know what else could interfere. I know there ar other wireless routers with strong signals, but they are encrypted.

if u are using XP, disable the Zero Wireless connection.
