Yeah I saw this this morning, and while it's interesting I don't really think it's very useful. Wouldn't it be better to have something which you could plug into the back of any video card rather than it being built into the video card itself?

When I first read the title of the article I thought to myself "Wireless video card? What do you do just toss it near the PC?" LOL.

I like where this is going, think down the road 5yrs when LCD's will have wireless receptors built right in. None of this HDMI/displayport cable crap. Then the only reason to have physical access to your rig is for removable media (thumb drive, DVD, etc).

But all your DVDs and BRs will already be ripped and stored in your NAS so you can forget about them too

the only thing i'm worried about then is how our body rx to so much radiations around the house when everything is wireless.

You forgot the /sarcasm tag on that post. If you are being serious, you forgot doctors medication.

Neato, but it would have been much, much cooler if it was an addon that could hook up to any card.

Not a problem if you are wearing a tinfoil hat. You are wearing your tinfoil hat, aren't you?

Way to add more latency. Just what I need for those twitch shooters.

Wow, running cables must be such a hardship to young folk these days. Why, back in my day...

Ha...I remember when CAT5e was all the rage back then. Now I see homes and offices with blank recepticals made for all these LAN wires.

To me, I'd still go wired if I possible, generally gives better speeds, reliability, and not to mention security.

I'm a young 'folk' and prefer wired. Wireless is good for surfing and watching non-HD... that's it. Until wifi standards and spectra mature we won't see anything amazing.

Guys its 499.99 plus tax at newegg.

Who is gonna pay for this and buy it, no one I assume.

I dont know that I would pay $499.99 for it, but I am sure that their are people that would pay for these sorts of things.

The markets for video cards are pretty diverse and cross a wide user base, not just gamers sitting in their parents basement (/runs and hides).

At this price, it will be a luxury item, but I think Idontcare hit the nail on the head, their will be a time in the future that we will move away from wires for everything. Heck, even the new Win7 phones can sync to your PC and the internet via wireless, my carkeys can be in my pocket and still start my car, and I can charge my phone without wires someday.

I think when we see the convergence of wireless power standards, hi bandwidth short range wireless links, we are going to see some very cool things coming. We are almost there, I think maybe just a few more years.

Every review I've seen of WiDi shows latency that's ok for day to day tasks, but unsuitable for gaming.

exactly, integrating it into the card is grossly impractical...
And wireless video is nothing new, heck even INTEL does it. (intel WiDi).
And then there is the Asus WiCast http://www.anandtech.com/show/3978/asus-wicast-wireless-1080p-to-your-tv/3

this is a really really bad design, bad idea. Total waste of money... The only reason it even have any use is because intel WiDi requires using the crappy intel built in graphics, and Asus WiCast has crappy range (interference at 5 feet)... Even assuming that this device overcomes the interference issue, it would have been VASTLY wiser to have it as two separate boxes like the WiCast.

If you really must have your PC at a different room, then use long cables
