Wireless intercom........fairly cheap.

My son's bedroom is upstairs and the phone isn't. I finally got tired of yellling or going upstairs to pound on his door when he got a call (no, I'm not going to put a phone in his room), so I bought a wireless doorbell. I put the receiver in his room and the button next to the phone on my desk. Works great.

Now, I'm thinking about going a step further. My daughter's bedroom is upstairs, also. I'd like to install an inexpensive wireless intercom in both their rooms with the base unit on my desk.

Where can I get a decent price on this? I was thinking about Radio Shack, but there are probably cheaper places on the Net.

Wireless intercom at your local Radio Shack unless Staples or OM carries an intercom then you can use a coupon.

ummm. a 5 dollar phone is alot cheaper, easier, and convienient than all the crap you are gonna go through right now, unless your kids room doesnt have jacks. if they dont have jacks, then a wireless phone jack kit will do.

I think you missed my point. I don't believe that kids need to have telephones in their rooms until they are old enough to pay their own phone bills.

We've had intercoms in the house for a while. I think I got the first ones at Service Merchandise 10 years ago. However, these were 3 channel units which most are and all the channels were being used by other families in the vicinity, so I bought 2 sets of these 4 channel units. They aren't cheap, but they work great.

Thanks, RossMAN, finally a relevant post. I'm going to check out Staples etc. (because I can use coupons) as well as Radio Shack. I was just wondering if there were any online places I could get a deal.

Any retail store should have wireless intercoms cheap, i got mine from Wal-Mart for 15 bucks each unit, I bought three also, just make sure they have a switch on it so it communicates with the proper channel (Room).

you're a fool not to put phones in their rooms... you can get them for less than a wireless intercom

my kids get so many calls from their friends, i don't even answer the phone anymore - that way i don't have to track them down to answer the phone.

i got two boxes of intercoms for my parents. There are total of 4 intercoms (2 in each box). Each box was 29.99 at radio shack.. its an FM system.

I think it shuld work fine at their place.

Edit- BTW HappyPuppy we used to have two channel wireless intercoms that we purchased at Radio Shack. Never had a problem with interference either. I believe they were 15 bucks a piece.
