Ok, I have a Dell laptop Ispiron E1705 running Windows XP with a Linksys router that has been working fine.

Recently though there has been an annoying issue with my wireless connection. We have 3 users on this computer and we all use it quite often. I have the computer set on the screen saver to return to the welcome screen when it turns on.

Whenever one of the users logs in, the wireless connection shows that its discconected. You then need to right click and repair the connection which fixes it. The internet connection is fine the entire time you use it for , the issue only occurs when re-loging in after being switched back.

Any help? this is quite annoying

* Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows Desktop (or in the Start menu), and select Manage.
* In the Computer Management window, click on the Device Manager option on the left side.
* In the right column, click on the + sign next to Network Adapters.
* Locate your wireless adapter in the list, right-click on it, and select Properties.
* In the Wireless adapter properties window, click on the Power Management tab.
* Remove the check from the box labeled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

This will prevent the computer from turning the wireless adapter off when the computer is idle. However, it could also reduce battery life significantly when not using AC power since the laptop won't be able to automatically disable the wireless adapter when it is not needed. You'll need to remember to manually turn it off when you're on battery power and don't need the wireless.

It is on by default because it is a good idea to have it on. It lets Windows conserve your laptop's battery power so you don't run out of juice when you need it.

Yours is the rare case (not actually using a laptop as a portable computer) where having it in can be annoying so turning it off is reasonable. As I said before, just make sure you turn off the wireless (use the wireless radio button on the laptop, usually near the keyboard) when you are using the laptop on battery and don't need the wireless.

Some laptops do this as part as the "Sleeping" state.

Use the Charger adapter and try to disable Windows and Propriety general Sleeping states.

Windows Power Saving is in the Control Panel

As for Dell's propriety saving (if there is one) it should be in the Laptop manual, I do not have Dell Laptop.
