Logitech MK550 Wireless Wave Desktop Combo Keyboard and Mouse - ORIGINALLY

Logitech MK520 Wireless Combo Keyboard and Mouse - CURRENTLY

Logitech Z313 2.1 Stereo Speaker System

I encountered a serious problem with the Logitech MK550 Wireless Wave Desktop Combo Keyboard and Mouse. When I first used them, the mouse occasional froze up and would only respond to shaking or tapping on the mouse pad; which actually shouldn’t have any affect at all. At the same time the keyboard did not always enter the key pressed until pressed many times when it then produced a number of examples of the key pressed.

I re-installed the software that came with the package, changed the USB slot of the Unifying Receiver (the small USB device that receives the signals from the Keyboard and Mouse) and also tried to use the USB extension cable. This worked for a while, but then they both quit working altogether after about 15 minutes, freezing solid and requiring a hard reboot by holding the on/off switch until the computer closed; which meant that when rebooting I was asked whether to use safe mode, or not.

After continuing testing, I was still unable to improve the situation. Both the mouse and the keyboard appear to respond to input, but sometimes, several seconds later.
I discussed the question with Logitech, who were very helpful, but were unable to resolve the problem and suggested I return the unit. Unfortunately, the store where I bought it had only the MK520; which in fact was the system that I originally asked for, but was not in stock.

However, the same thing has happened with the MK520; I don’t believe that this can be a Logitech problem anymore.

Has anyone any suggestions please?

Regards,

john

That board has two USB controllers:

ASMedia® USB 3.0 controller : *2
8 x USB 3.0 port(s) (6 at back panel, blue, 2 at mid-board)

Intel® X79 chipset :
12 x USB 2.0 port(s) (4 at back panel, black+white, 8 at mid-board)

I wonder if one of them isn't supplying enough power for those peripherals. If you are using the USB 3.0 ports, try the USB 2.0 ports or vice-versa. If you have a powered USB hub available then give that a shot as well.

exactly what he said, this can be your only problem. best bet for using a wireless kb/mouse combo anyways is a powered hub.
