I have just recently completed building my new desktop computer. The basis for this unit was the Intel i7-3820:
Intel Core 17-3820 Quad Core, Socket LGA2011, 3.6GHz, 10MB L3 Cache, 32nm
ASUS P9X79 Deluxe Socket 2011 Intel x79 Chipset Quad-Channel DDR3 2400(OC)/2133(OC)/1866/1600/133/1066 MHz 4x PCI-Express 3.0 x16 Dual GLAN 8-CH High Definition Audio 4x SATA 3.0GB/s 4x SATA 6.0GB/s 8x USB 3.0 12x USB 2.0 Motherboard
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Direct Heat Pipe CPU Cooler
Kingston HyperX Genesis 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz DIMMs
Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Mid Tower Case
Corsair Enthusiast Series Modular TX850M 80Plus Bronze Certified 850W PSU
ASUS HD7770-DC-1GD5-V2 AMD 7770 Chipset (1120MHz) 1GB (4600MHz) GDDR5 Dual DVI/HDMI/Display Port PCI-Express 3.0 Graphics Card
Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 SATA3 6.0GB/s 500GB 16MB Cache Hard Drive
Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 SATA3 6.0GB/s 1TB 64MB Cache Hard Drive
ASUS BW-12B1ST/BLK/G Black 12x BD Writer/16x DVD Writer SATA
ASUS PA238QR, 23 LED-Backlit IPS Panel 1920x1080 6ms(GtG) 5M:1(ASCR), VGA, DVI, HDMI and Display Port Widescreen Professional Monitor
Logitech MK550 Wireless Wave Desktop Combo Keyboard and Mouse - ORIGINALLY
Logitech MK520 Wireless Combo Keyboard and Mouse - CURRENTLY
Logitech Z313 2.1 Stereo Speaker System
I encountered a serious problem with the Logitech MK550 Wireless Wave Desktop Combo Keyboard and Mouse. When I first used them, the mouse occasional froze up and would only respond to shaking or tapping on the mouse pad; which actually shouldnt have any affect at all. At the same time the keyboard did not always enter the key pressed until pressed many times when it then produced a number of examples of the key pressed.
I re-installed the software that came with the package, changed the USB slot of the Unifying Receiver (the small USB device that receives the signals from the Keyboard and Mouse) and also tried to use the USB extension cable. This worked for a while, but then they both quit working altogether after about 15 minutes, freezing solid and requiring a hard reboot by holding the on/off switch until the computer closed; which meant that when rebooting I was asked whether to use safe mode, or not.
After continuing testing, I was still unable to improve the situation. Both the mouse and the keyboard appear to respond to input, but sometimes, several seconds later.
I discussed the question with Logitech, who were very helpful, but were unable to resolve the problem and suggested I return the unit. Unfortunately, the store where I bought it had only the MK520; which in fact was the system that I originally asked for, but was not in stock.
However, the same thing has happened with the MK520; I dont believe that this can be a Logitech problem anymore.
Has anyone any suggestions please?
Regards,
john
