Wireless music to my speakers

So, I have an older Harmon Kardon receiver hooked up to some older Yamaha speakers in my room, and I want to be able to listen to my music through this system but I want to be able to control it from my bed. I don't really care if i do it from my iPod or my computer, but I dont want to have to plug my ipod in or something and have to rely on a remote and not being able to see the menu or something like that. I suppose I could even handle wired if i absolutely had to, like 3.5 input cable or something if everything else is really expensive, but i'd rather go wireless, preferably from my computer. Cheap but effective is good, cuz i'm a poor high school kid. Thanks!

If there's anything much cheaper than something like this out there, I haven't heard of it. Here's hoping someone proves me wrong.

Depending on what type of iPod you have, my recommendation would be an Apple Airport Express - http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ and an iPod Touch running iTunes Remote App -
http://www.apple.com/itunes/remote/

Not the cheapest though if you don't already have the touch, but the Airport Express can be found for $50-60 and supports Optical Audio.

I have the original video iPod, i think that's the 5g? Not sure tho. I'm running a MBP tho, dunno if that changes anything.

Well any computer can send audio to the Airport Express, but the iTunes Remote app only works on the iPod touch & iPhone.

How far away is the MBP?

It would be like fifteen feet away at the max, i just wanna be able to control it from my bed. I just went and looked at it, and maybe i'm wrong, but doesn't that have to be close to your router that you broadcast from? Or what is the ethernet for? It makes it look like you're stereo has to be like right next to your router so they can be hooked up, otherwise you have to run cables. I just have my PC hooked up to everything and have a wireless connection broadcasting from there.

The AirPort Express can connect to your wireless network. The ethernet connection is there because it can also be used as a router or wireless bridge. I think it is perfect for what you need, and I love the few of them that I have.

Also, if that receiver has an optical input, which it should if it's under ten years old, you can connect the AirPort Express to it via that method for digital sound.

I use one of these cables to connect mine to my Sony receiver, and it works great.
