Wireless net without hub/access point

I've seen somewhere that there are ways to share a net connection over wireless without having to have a hub or access point. I've got a laptop running WinME with a PCMCIA 802.11a card, and a PC with cable internet and a PCI 802.11b card. How can I beam the cable internet to my laptop?

Wireless merely replaces the Wire.

You are probably much better off pending $30 and buying a Wireless Cable/DSL Router.

To stay with your current system you need to use software NAT.

your gonna need to have another a card or another b card, a wont talk to b. Other than that, ICS will work.

Actually, I got the system to work fine, it was far simpler than I originally expected to get an un-encrypted connection with internet sharing and the the works. Unfortunately what I DIDN'T get working was encryption - the belkin software sucks and the manuals are worse.

Encryption always seems to be the oddball issue with a lot of wireless products. I'm hoping with WPA comes along that they get their act together on the configuration issues.
