i have a friend using a linksys BEFSR41W wireless router connected to a linksys WAP11 (WAP). he has 3 winxp home machines and each machine has a linksys WUSB11 wireless USB network adapter. in addition he has a w2k laptop using a built in wireless lan.
when he connects his laptop and runs a bandwidth test from cnet ((http://webservices.cnet.com/Bandwidth/) he gets a pretty good connection - around 700kbps+. (don't ask me why he uses that instead of dslreports) after he turns on another computer on (the winxp machine) and runs the test again his bandwidth significantly drops to around 200kbps or sometimes even lower to around 100kbps. even after he turns the winxp machine off he still gets around the same bandwidth. he gets the regular bandwidth back when he resets the cable modem or router. strange.
any suggestions or solutions on why this would happen??
