CompUSA has the 11Mbps USR Wireless Access PC Card for $29.99 after $30 MIR. What do you guys think of this deal? I'm looking for a cheap wireless pc card.

It's not a bad deal. I've got the same card....picked it up during the $3.88 Amazon sale ($33.88 - $30.00 MIR + free shipping). It's a Prism based card, similar to Netgear MA401, and works fine here at home....good range using the latest drivers or the Netgear Drivers. I'm not sure that there are a whole lot better deals right now...

Prices are dropping and more 802.11b+ and g are coming on the market.
What are you connecting to ? Is it across the class room or through 3 walls and a furnace ?
I've an SMC card that does pretty good with the latter, and a linksys USB which barely connects across the room.
YMMV
The best 11b are the Orinoco/Agere/Lucent also sold by Dell.
But the lowest price I;ve found on those are $50, and that was at some freakin yahoo shop.
If you can afford the b+ or g variation you'll be better set for the future.

I picked this same card up 6 months ago and it works great. It's got linux drivers as well (important to me) and the only thing I noticed was that the updated Windows wireless drivers require the updated firmware (not documented anywhere I could find)

As for quality, I haven't had any problems with it yet. I can pick up up a WAP from no less than two of my apartment neighbors and they're two floors and across the building. The only downside is there is no jack for an external antenna (though if you don't mind making a mod, I found a website that has a demo of how.

All in all, a VERY good deal for a good card.

Actually the best Wireless cards are put out by Symbol but they are hard to find in the consumer market.
