Wireless Printing?

So I just bought the Canon MP600 multifunction printer which claims to be able to print wirelessly...the instructions dont tell you how to set it up tho...do you need some kind of server or something...i have a wireless router...

According to Canon's website and product tour, wireless printing is available via bluetooth and infrared (sounds primarily for cell phone pics).

Get a LinkSys Print Server; I like the company and used their servers a lot. Personal pref. It runs around $100 (or less). But that's what I've used and it's fairly easy to set up and maintain. Shop around and read on reviews as these things can be a little quirky. Forget about BlueTeethor InfraRed Unless you want to park your computer right NEXT to your printer the whole time which gives a new meaning to the word "wireless".

I just have my printers hooked up to a computer and then have that computer share the printers. No need to spend $100 on a print server.

That means you need to have the computer attached to the said printer ON THE WHOLE TIME or whenever you need to print something from another networked computer. I don't think most people want that.

Well, it works for me, since I have my web server running all the time. Just a suggestion.

You can also get standalone network print servers if you want it on 24/7 and you don't have an always-on PC it can be connected to.

If you have a commercial-grade printer (or a nice consumer one), you may be able to upgrade it with a builtin print server (or it may come standard).
