Wireless Router Recommendation

I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on what wireless routers are leading the pack right now. I'm looking for something that has the maximum range and throughput possible. Range is a bigger factor than throughput though. I'm not worried about having 802.11ac so that doesn't matter.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I've looked at the Linksys E2500 and Netgear D6300. The Netgear seems to suffer from some bad electronics but has good reviews when it works right.

Probably the best overall right now is the ASUS RT-AC66U. While it has had incomplete or troublesome firmware in the past, it is still being actively updated with two new firmwares released in the past couple of months (latest being 08/05/13).

Second best would probably be the ASUS RT-N66U Dark Knight.
