Wireless router suggestion needed....

I'm looking for a router with these features:

1. Wireless (at least 802.11b)
2. Print Server
3. VPN End point
4. 3port 10/100 RJ-45

Are there any routers out there that offer these features? I've found a few that come close but not all. Like a SMC with the VPN end point and wireless but no print server or a SMC with the print server and thats it. I've got two computers that I want to share DSL with. One computer wired, the other wireless both sharing a HP LaserJet 2100 printer.

If there is not a router that offers all of these features what other options do I have to set something like this up?

I doubt that you will find one at the lower end ($120 down).

The previous generation of Routers use to have printer sever but bad VPN support.

Few of the current lower end Routers support VPN better but no Printer server.

I would concentrate on the VPN part and get a Router that can do VPN the way you need it.

You can add a Wireless Printer Sever (costly), or you can buy an old Wired Router with printer server and use only the printer server part.

Example: SpeedStream 4-port DSL/Cable router + Serial Port & Printer Server. $25

If I do concentrate on getting a router with VPN support what do I do about the wireless part?

If end up with Wired Router you can plug into it an Access Point or a second inexpensive Wireless Router.

However it really depends on what you need in VPN.

As an example the Linksys WRT54G is a solid 802.11g Wireless Router (cost around $100), that can be a one piece solution.

It supports PPTP and IPsec pass-Thru for Client and Server.

It does no support L2TP and it is not an EndPoint.

You have to define what you need and check the specs of all Routers that claim to support VPN.

Well the VPN is anything but a mission critical. It will be used to connect my network here at home with a friends network (about 1.5hrs away). My friend already has a Netgear router I do believe that has the VPN built into it as well.

It sounds like I might be better off finding a router with the VPN and print server built in such as a SMC and then plug in an access point, correct?
