wireless surround speakers

I'm beginning to become annoyed at having wires feed through my living room floor to power the rear speakers in my surround sound setup. I feel there has to be a solution out there involving wireless conversions where I can take my existing speakers and hook them up to a wireless bridge of sorts.

Does anyone out there know of such a solution?

no solution is totally wireless. Even if you transmit the audio signal wirelessly, the surround speakers will still need a cable delivering power to them. A good compromise is just to see if you can run the speaker wireless in wall or run them along the wall (or ceiling) using cable runners.

Not to mention you have to wire the speakers to the wireless receiver.

I am not currently aware of a good wireless speaker/adapter setup due to their inherent issues with wireless signals and interference

Maybe I am mis-understanding but it sounds like the wires are already run? I ran mine when we moved in and haven't given them a second thought. Do you re-arrange a lot?

I'm renting a condo so running wires in the wall is a no-no. I guess I was hoping for a solution where I could attach a device off the receiver (power supplied by receiver) that would transmit to rear speakers. The rear speakers would have to have a device that would be locally powered (wall outlet) to pick up the signal and send it to the speaker.

There are issues to address like signal degradation and delay.

Do you have carpet? If so they most likely used a tack strip and you could pull the carpet up - run the cables and put it back down with no issues. If they used glue then you could stuff the wires between the baseboard and the carpet.

Hard wood is more difficult. If you are handy and have molding you could most likely remove the modling - run the wires - and then cover it up with no issues.

I talked to the company that owned the townhouse I rented and they were ok with me running drilling holes and running cable as long as I patched it up before I left (and did a good enough job that they couldn't really tell.) They even kept the coax wall plate I installed upstairs. Might be worth a try talking to them if you haven't already

A really cheap solution .
FM transmitter like used for mp3 player car adapters.
FM stereo of your choice for the rear speakers.

Or if you want to spend more there are plenty of surround receivers that ship with wireless surround support.
