For input devices, what are the tradeoffs of radio vs infrared sensors? Do radio devices have 360 degree "vision" while infrared deviced need a line of sight? Just curious....

You're right about the field of operation. Another trade-off is that radio devices tend to use up more power than infrared devices -- I used to have a wireless keyboard that sucked up batteries in "360 mode" (their term) but could last many times longer in infrared mode.
radio devices have nasty interferences, My monitor would start blinking strangely when the emitter got anywhere close to it. But my keyboard seems to work nicely in rf mode, the mouse- I switched to corded optical, I like it better.
