Hello All,

First deal, so apologies if its not HOT. I was looking for some kind of transmitter to AV signals to my second TV and I stumbled across this:

GameEZ 2.4GHz Wireless Audio/Video Transmitter/Receiver

Prices elsewhere were generally around $59. Not sure about the quality of this component, so if anyone can shed some light, please do! Basically, this thing is a 2.4 Ghz transmitter of A/V signals (aimed at Video Games, but I figure also applicable to Cable Boxes, VCRs, DVDs, etc.)

Cheers!

Another alternative is the phone wire A/V transmission thingy that's on clearance for $9.99 at Radio Shack, if you can find on local to you. Search the other threads for Radio Shack.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago to transmit mp3s to my stereo. I could not get this thing to work, even short distances with no obstacles. I cannot imagine that the signal would be watchable. They may have improved, but at this price, I think not.

I bought this a while back and it works ok. It actually worked pretty well until I got my 802.11b router, then the video and audio got choppy. If you don't have anything else that's 2.4GHz than you should be fine.

I got it a month ago.
Poor reception, static. when someone cross between the transmiter and the receiver there is noise. And don't even dare to run a microwave with in 12 feet of the receiver...

My 2....

What happen to that study about RF (Radio Frequency) saying that all these RF isn't good for our health????

If that study still true, then we all will be so stupid since all the cell phone and everything now is going higher and higher frequency. And we all will look like this >

I got one today and it works awesome. The range is pretty limited, but beaming my Dreamcast from one room to the other gives quality indistinguishable from a direct A/V connection to the TV. The sound and picture are excellent, surprising for such a cheap device. There is static as the transmitter goes out of range, but I played (body located) to the side of the transmitter and in between the transmitter and receiver without any static while the transmitter was within range.

But as another experience above shows, YMMV. I'm happy with it, though.

I am looking for something like this one too, but I want one that will allow me to change the channel on the main TV too. My friend had one which is $200, I want to know is there any cheaper ones out there!

The $9 deal at Radioshack a few weeks ago was for a phoneline based system. It included functionality to use your remote.

LOL@Akuma.

No, it say wireless. Not IR. IR can't go through wall. And within range meaning taking the opstical into account that the signal still good then it will work. Pretty much it is saying U can't go too far (that is considering there isn't something to block the signal). There are some building that is built to block out signals like cell phone or pager.

Most of the time, they give the range without optical. They don't know 100% of what could be in the way where ppl accually use it so they don't give you range with optical.

Interesting. My receiver came with an RF remote and I have some IR blasters so I could control my ReplayTV from another room with this. Might have to give it a try.

So how would this hook up to a computer?

Computer-<??>-(Transmitter) - - - - - - - - - - - - (Receiver)-<RCA>-TV

<??> - 15-pin vga to RCA?

souka: You need a video card with a TV-OUT (RCA) connector.

Anyone know if this will work between two floors?

It says it does on CompGeek's page, and it should, but that's no guarantee. Especially if you have a 2.4 Ghz phone or a wireless network that could cause interference.

If it works as intended, it should definitely go through a ceiling/floor.

On the RS thing, the SKU was 150-1975. It's not available online, and the chances of finding one in stock at a B & M store are very slim at this point. I wasn't able to find one, and that was several weeks ago.

I got a UHF transmitter to replace my 2.4 GHz unit. This allows me to watch satellite TV from any room with a TV set, including my little Casio handheld TV. This was better/cheaper than buying a 2.4 GHz receiver for each TV. I have a DISH PVR with UHF remote, which works anywhere in the house. Quality is great, although tuning of the transmitter is a little touchy. Got it new from eBay (there are lots of them, look for "UHF transmitter") new for $29.99 + s/h.

donrussell, is there a way to connect a UHF transmitter to a PC so I can transmit my audio (mp3s) to a stereo (wirelessly)?
Thanks.

Hey, I got mine today. I hock it in and it works great. It's using A/V connection only. I notice most A/V don't have a spliter so 2 device can view the same source. I wonder if I can get another of this and only use the receiver and switch to same channel as my other transmitter. So use this kinda like a spliter.

No you can not use this with your computer. Most video card have S-Video TV out. Unless you have an adaptor in between changing from S-Video to A/V type connector. But then U get only image without audio.

Right now I have my DirecTV sitting outside my room hocking up to the TV. I have an IR to RF transmitter that will transmit my remote signal from inside my room to that DirecTV. And now I have this Video Trasnmitter to transmit pics from that DirecTV to my PC. Yes, I do have a WinTV. It's all so cool. *hehehe*
