In the near future, I am going to have the option to have either Wireless, or Cable internet access.

I was curious if anybody has experience with wireless internet. My main interest in broadband is for online gaming, so latentcy is a critical issue. When I refer to wireless, I don't mean Satellite internet. This wireless works similar to cellular technology. I don't know the cost comparison yet. I assume the startup costs for wireless will be higher.

The information in the press release promises 1mb/sec upload/download for residential customers. That seems pretty damn fast. Business monthy rates start at $75, so I assume residential is cheaper. I am wondering what you people think about this. BTW, I am too far from the switch, so DSL is not an option. Cable is supposed to be available in my area by September, the provider would be Comcast@home. Wireless, by the end of the year. Here's the link if anybody is curious.

There is now information on the site about ping time, but it is generally higher for wireless then for cable. Cable will probably be better, unless lots of people in your neighborhood get it, but the wireless speed may also be shared, so I would look on DSL reports for reviews of your cable provider, and if they are favorable go with cable, if they are not then try the wireless.

i tried wireless here in San diego. i think they offered 128k here not 1 meg. it was good for browsing and such but didn't seem that good for online gaming.

We can also get wireless here... Sprint. Its 512kbps-1.5mbps d/l and 256kbps upload... about the same as DSL or cable. Wireless is on a shared network, you share between each sector which is a certain degrees of their tower... like you have 360 degrees around the tower... thats split into sectors of like 8 degrees or whatever. Ping time is higher then cable or DSL, but its usually better then modem.
