considering Walker and the pubs actively worked to guy their access to healthcare and decent employment, I'd say taking away their easy ability to access a bit of fun is just yet another dastardly knife in their backs.

talk about a bunch of fucking assholes that make up the GOP.

He also is following Trumps lead in putting people that want to destroy an agency into that agency. Apparently the job of the DNR is not to protect the resources for citizens but to rubber stamp projects for mining interests. The jewel of Wisconsin is its northern woodlands. I have to wonder what they will be like when Scott is done.

In a break from past practice, the Department of Natural Resources has gone outside of the agency to hire a new chief legal counsel by tapping a lawyer from a conservative public interest litigation group.

Gov. Scott Walker has appointed Jake Curtis to manage legal affairs for an agency that oversees fish and game laws, regulates air and water regulations and deals with other legal issues ranging from management of public lands to the cleanup of polluted industrial sites.

The appointment marks the first time the DNR has hired someone from outside the department to manage legal matters and is the latest sign of the growing politicization of the agency.

Supported recent action by the Legislature to end the moratorium on metallic mining, and disagreed with environmentalists’ claims that a now-closed copper, gold and silver mine near Ladysmith is a source of significant water pollution. Walker said he intends to sign the bill ending the moratorium, which could open the door to copper and other minerals for the first time since 1998.

I don't know about drugs, but my friend who worked at a gas station said the scam there was the owner would put out super expensive food items and have the cashier charge purchases as milk, crackers, and other highly overpriced food items when someone would want to buy beer, cigarettes, or a crackpipe with an EBT card.
That's disgusting. The gov't should go after scammers and enablers instead of users. Unfortunately we live in a world where individuals get inconvenienced instead of law enforcement going after the real perpetrators of problems.

I agree. But "Big Pharma" probably owns the drug-testing labs, and they're going to make money off of this whole thing, at the expense of taxpayers. Much like private prisons, which should also be abolished, IMHO.

I don't think (expensive) wide-spread drug testing, of all individuals in that state, that are on food stamps, is moral, nor economical.

The only (limited) exception, that I might consider allowing, is if the person is a convicted felon, with drug charges. Even that, given the feds and some states positions on MJ, is probably overreaching. In any case, they probably need treatment, and not heavy drug-testing.

(The above may not even apply, if felons can't get food stamps anyways.)

The funny thing is that Scott Walker does not have the authority to do this. Those are federal funds. Obama blocked him from doing it. Scott is betting Trump will do nothing to stop him.

If this goes through, I can't imagine it doing anything other than costing way the hell more money. So these drug addicts no longer have money coming in. Do Republicans really believe they are just going to sit there and starve to death? No they will not. They will resort to violent crime to take care of themselves. Innocent people will be harmed or killed and eventually the drug addict will end up in prison. So what was a relatively inexpensive monthly check turns into an expense that is an order of magnitude larger.... and innocents are harmed to boot. When you dive into Republican thinking, you really are swimming in the shallowest end of the intellectual pool (I won't even mention the morality pool).

Thanks Obama!

Food Stamps?. Food Stamp use was down in the US at the end of Obama's term. The drop in the program's enrollment was big nationally, at about 5 percent from June 2015 and June 2016 alone. Is Food Stamp usage back up under Trump?

If there was any drop Obama made up for it with:

Obamaphones
Obamacare
..and even the requirement to work for welfare that was signed into law by Bill Clinton in 1996...

http://www.heritage.org/welfare/com...irements-welfare-why-trump-right-restore-them

President Donald Trump on Wednesday reversed an Obama administration policy that undermined one of the most successful domestic policy reforms in the last half-century.

In doing so, Trump took strong steps to preserve the original intent of the 1996 welfare reform law: to weaken the cycle of poverty by reducing dependence and promoting self-sufficiency through work and marriage.

This is a sound decision for two key reasons.

First, the decision enforces the 1996 welfare reform law, which deliberately made the core work requirements of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program mandatory and non-waivable by future administrations of the law.

The Obama administration effectively gutted the law’s requirements in July 2012 when it released a policy directive through the Department of Health and Human Services that allowed states to waive the TANF program’s work requirements.

To do this, the Obama administration claimed waiver authority that was illegal and antithetical to the purpose. Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services produced no historical evidence that Congress intended to grant waiver authority for the TANF work requirements.

Granted we did go through hard times from 2008-2012 and perhaps Americans needed more of a helping hand back then, so I understand the need to relax rules and increase programs to aid people. One infamous program was the unemployment insurance program that was expanded up to 99 weeks and beyond!!

Meh, whatever.

If you time and again display inability of compassion and no concept of empathy, it is my firm belief that you should be shot dead. You have no business in my gene pool and I claim this earth as mine. I am tired of fuckers kicking the guy/gal percieved below him self.

What's with Republicans and their insistence on implementing failed policies?

Oh well, Wisconsin gets what it deserves.

Thank God we have Trump to redirect our help to those that need it the most, the 1%ers. I admire the consistency of the conservatives. Every penny taken from middle and working classes is another penny earned for the job creators. It is never enough to pump up the income of those on top, it is just as important to stomp on the income of those below. Every policy initiative from every conservative reflects this principle without exception.

I hate to see the sad decline of Wisconsin. The land of beer and cheese is becoming the land of poor and hungry.
Fucked the workers
Fucked voting rights
now trying to fuck the hungry people

The Walker administration estimated that a small fraction of the program's applicants - 220, or 0.3 percent, of the 67,400 applicants a year - would actually test positive for drugs.
So a giant waste of time and money. That's conservatism for you.

We're the richest country in the world & fools get all self righteous when some of our unluckiest citizens might get something they don't deserve. Addiction is a disease, not a moral failing. Those who catch it are very unlucky indeed.
Nah, it's a moral failing. Drug testing for food stamp recipients is also immoral and a waste of resources.

So in other words they are spending millions of dollars to test a population where they expect a 0.3% positive rate (is that even distinguishable from zero given the test accuracy?). They are doing this so that if they DO find someone who tests positive they can take money and food away from their children.

This is not just stupid and wasteful, it's spiteful and immoral. What is wrong with these people.

And kickbacks to Republicans to fund.

Huh-uhh! Why, Rick Scott divested himself of interests in the company that did such testing in Florida. He gave them to his wife. The stock price was already puffed up on rumors that Florida Repubs would do such a thing so it's all good. They carved out another profit center for the wealthy at the expense of the taxpayers, one that benefits the taxpayers not at all Because reasons & shit.

Well, yeh, but conservatives get all tingly with self righteousness. It's a Church Lady kind of thing.

They'll abandon the policy once they discover how many of these people they catch arent minorities like they assume.
