Say what you will, I will never claim WI as midwestern. Hell I live in Missouri and find our staus as midwestern questionable. Mid maybe but not western.

The eastern position of the state doesn't mean it's not midwest. The regions are as much cultural as spatial. I'm majoring in geography, and I'm telling you that Wisconsin is a midwestern state.

Are you really this ignorant? As stated before, the label is NOT based on current US geography. Think about this, Michigan and Ohio are considered Midwest.

Read before you rant.

There is NO FREAKING WAY that Wisconsin is Northeast. The Northeast is New England, New York, and Pennsylvania. Nothing more. Not Maryland, not the Carolinas, not Delware, not NJ, and NOT WISCONSIN

You are a Midwestern state, just get over it.

Edit: Mason-Dixon line, hosebag.

What's confusing about that? It's actually a very good field to get into right now. I considered geography as a backup major-- GIS is apparantly pretty big at the moment.

Geographers study the interactions between people and their natural and built environments. Geographical concerns range in scale from urban spaces and movement patterns to global environmental systems. By incorporating a strong comparative and international bent, geographers situate both teaching and research in an interregional and global context. The UT Department of Geography and the Environment is a nationally-recognized leader in the study of historical transformations in landscapes and associated changes in human-environment relations.

 Geography is awesome. I'm an earth science minor, and I've focused most of my minor (and nearly all of my upper level coursework) on geography.

NJ is the NE.

There is no way Penn is in the NE but NJ is not.

Wisconsin is in the mid west

Argue all you want, but you are definately not part of the NE, the state isn't even on Eastern Standard Time.

WI is Midwest to me. I would consider "Middle Northern" as most of the Midwest.

I suppose if you wanted to be really anal you could make a case for it being in a northeast quadrant (if you draw lines through the exact middle of the lower 48 going W-E and N-S), but culturally it's definitely not part of the Northeast.

CAll me anal then:

You tell me where that damn state lies!

So your saying your state is half north east and half south east? Explains half of the southern red necks I meet from Missouri

Having lived in WI for 22 years, I can safely say that we are indeed classified as a Midwestern state.

it depends on how you divide the east coast... NJ, PA, MD, DE, DC, and VA are considered the Mid-Atlantic region, but it's easier just to divide the east coast between the north east (including and north of MD, and east of Ohio) and south (including and south of Virginia, and east of the Mississippi River)

The Midwest Territory is defined as all land EAST of the mississippi, North of the Ohio river, South of the great lakes, and WEST of Pennsylvania.

Wisconson is the Midwest. Stop crying.

Wisconsin is in the Midwest. It used to be in the Northwest, as in Northwest Ordinance.

What pisses me off is that Texas is getting lumped with the Midwest in media reports. Texas is not culturally midwestern, it is it's own thing, and wees guys from the Midwest are offended to be lumped with Texans.

Northeast and Northwest only apply to corner states. It's Midwest, there is no other region it can belong to.
