http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/09/wisconsin-gop-plan-advance-anti-union_n_833796.htmlIn a bold gambit to put an end to the weeks-long budget standoff in Wisconsin, Gov. Scott Walker (R) is reportedly splitting his controversial budget-repair bill in two, with the goal of passing the more hotly contested provisions even with 14 key Democratic state senators holed up in Illinois.
The news, first reported by local press, would allow the anti-collective bargaining measure to pass with just Republican support. Under Wisconsin law a 3/5s quorum is needed for a statute that is fiscal in nature. No such quorum is needed for non-fiscal matters.
Walker tried to compromise with the Democrats and they wanted no part of it.
Its good to see Walker call the Democrats bluff.
