Compromise means getting everything they want. See "compromise" on Bush Tax Cuts.

This was compromise. The governor could have also fired 1500 employees as well to really help the budget, but compromised and didn't.

Try again sparky. Even by the right-leaning Rasmussen, the poll shows WI voters don't want collective bargaining done away with. The unions said they were willing to contribute more towards the health benefits and the pensions. That's the compromise.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/pub...general_but_strongly_support_specific_changes

That wasn't the poll I was talking about. I'm not really interested in fighting over which poll is better. But even looking at the Rasmussen poll you clearly cherry-picked, sparky. How about this quote:

As part of the collective bargaining process, however, just 19% believe that unions should be allowed to require a local school district to buy health insurance coverage from a union-created insurance company. Three times as many (57%) are opposed.

As usual, poll responses make people look stupid. This is like when people say they want more government services but less taxes in response to polls. Here they're saying they don't want to weaken unions but also don't want want unions to be able to ask for certain things. Those are inconsistent. If you read between the lines, you can see people want reforms, which is all what I'm saying.

Unlike you, I'm not looking for polls to mirror my personal preferences. What I'm seeing is a little more nuanced then what partisan hacks might be able to handle. If a poll comes out tomorrow that says 90% of Wisconsin voters will vote Democrat, I'll accept that. But I haven't seen that yet.

Jon Stewart ran a long compilation video a couple months back showing plenty of folks on both left and right starting sentences with "The American People want [enter policy of speaker's choice]." If you want to do a study comparing the number of times that phrase is uttered, by all means, proceed. But I'm not aware of either side owning this statement.
Nor either side particularly giving a damn if it's true in a given instance.

Bullshit. They had nothing pre-Nov 2010.

Woops. Now I remember. Obama needed republican support to extend the tax cuts.

So he needed to compromise.
He didn't compromise because of altruism.

Obama needed to compromise and Walker didn't.
Pretty simple.

Actually Obama could have gotten exactly what he wanted. No extension of the Bush Tax Cuts for anyone.

Try again.

The fuck are you talking about?

Obama never ran on not extending the Bush tax cuts.

He ran on not extending them for the 2 wealthiest tax brackets ONLY.

He even explains it here, straight from him why he did it.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Interesting theory. I recall members here claiming letting the Bush Tax Cuts expire here equated to Democrats (including Obama) raising taxes on everyone. Oh that's right, you joined in Oct 2010. You wouldn't know.

LOL! This is probably the funniest thing to happen all year. Liberal media backfire. They hoped to use open records request for emails to the Governor to show how folks were against the bill when all along Walker has been saying people keep telling him they support it. Turns out he was right, 2-1 support for the bill from correspondence. Doing the will of The People indeed.

Of the emails related to the bill, 62 percent supported it, while 32 percent opposed it. The margin of error for the Center’s sample size is plus or minus 2.3 percentage points.

LOL! Self-ownage for the win!

Glad to see this. Maybe there's hope for Wisconsin after all - and if Wisconsin, why not Michigan?

Well when you do take the out-of-state emails out of the equation the margin of support is MUCH thinner... but its still the majority.

"When the Center looked only at emails from Wisconsin, the margin was much slimmer, with 55% favoring his bill and 42% opposed. And 89% of the emails against Walker came from Wisconsinites."

Granted this was only a sampling of the emails too so who knows.

Regardless, I know I supported the bulk of the bill (I have issues with some parts, and the way a lot of it all went down (from both sides)).

LOL Wisconsin's version of Obamacare. Judges? We don' need no stinkin' judges!

lol, not to mention the fact that in Wisconsin there seems to be the question about effect date. One may be barred but another may not by the court order and thus it could still technically take effect even though USUALLY it follows a certain order. Meh - doesn't matter either way. If the judges/courts get in the way - the senate can just pass it again.

If the way the law was passed is it question why don't they just hold another vote on it?
