Don't worry, they don't put their hands in your mouth very much during the procedure.

The drills and pliers, on the other hand...

i had the gas then the needle...i was pretty messed up before that needle got anywhere near me, wasn't feeling anything from the gas so the nurse turned it up for a while that was a fun few minutes.

good luck and enjoy the ability to do nothing for a few days and have an excuse.

When I had mine taken out, they gave me the anesthetic through IV, no shots.

There was no swelling and no intense pain (not to say there wasn't any pain), but there sure was a lot of blood and spit. Also I took 3 too many vicodin and almost went into a vomiting frenzy, you could imagine how much it would hurt and how much damage it would do to the sutures if you start vomiting when your mouth is that messed up and you can only open it about 15 degrees. Thankfully I managed to keep it all down.

Getting all 4 removed, top 2 coming in straight, bottom 2 not so straight.. All are impacted ( meaning under the gums - correct? )

Don't want it to move my bottom teeth so I am thrilled to get them out!

Can't wait to eat some perks!

Wish me luck.
you'll do fine

I had mine removed with just Novocaine. I didn't even get any painkillers when it was over.

ugh, I had one removed where they needed to remove some of the jaw bone. Enjoyed a couple of weeks pain. I can't imagine how annoying it will be to have all 4 removed at one time.

Keep popping the pills and you will be fine. I was knocked out when I had all 4 of mine taken out. Mine were all impacted and coming in sideways. I was out of the doctor's office by 10am and went to work that night at 5pm

No big deal as long as you take the pain pills.

Impacted means the teeth aren't coming in straight and most likely bone will need to be broken to get the teeth out. Unerupted means the teeth are simply still under the gums. Remember to follow the doctor's instructions on the paper they give you. It's super super important to prevent you from getting dry socket which will make you hurt more than anything you have ever felt before. So no smoking or using straws or anything else that creates a negative pressure in your mouth, it will suck out the blood clott exposing your bone (that's dry socket). Make sure you get an irrigation syringe to clean out the area. My friend didn't do it and got an infection 2 weeks later, his whole face huge and hurting. They had to cut him up and found food and stuff in his tissues. Overall the surgery should go well.

Also novacaine hasn't been used in dentistry for a decade or so now. Xylocaine/lidocaine is the most used local in the US and Artocaine in some parts of Europe (and Canada too I think).

2 percs == bliss.

They don't really do anything about the pain, they just make you not care anymore.

I'll eat my whole prescrip in like 2 days..

Haha that's what I did... they can pull all the teeth they want as far as I'm concerned.

I hope it's bloody and painful during, and bleeding and swelling after. That's what you'll get w/ a sucky doc. It can get done in 15 minutes and you won't notice a thing. Novacaine as pain killer. No swelling afterward, no pain, a little itchy. Wound heals in a few days. Ain't no thang. That's what you'll get w/ a really good doc, which is what happened in my case.

my doc struggled with one of my lower ones for a good half an hour because it was severely impacted. then he turned abrubtly to say something to the nurse, and "accidentally" elbowed me firmly in the side of the face. the tooth came out quickly afterward. some things you just can't learn in dentistry school.

Well I'm back..

Not NEARLY as bad as I would have thought.. Starting to feel a little pain, but just ate 2 perks..

I could hear them talking during the end, talking about water tubing and things.. I was laughing the whole time..

They said it looks like you had a good time..

yeah, it's kind of funny, because they put that suction tube in your mouth during the procedure. Then when they start running the drill, you can feel little bits of water and stuff hitting your tongue and getting sucked up.

After a while you start to realize that isn't water. Yikes.

Let me give you the bad: when my sister had them taken out, the doc broke her jaw. Her mouth was wired shut for 8 WEEKS!
