Couldn't care less about batman. It'll be about as good as all the boring AC games were. And the witcher code is apparently on GoG. Would prefer steam. Still, good for some folks

pro-tip: buy the GPU new, sell the GPU for retail or near retail price and keep the games

Nice deal, but I don't regret buying my 980 at launch. At this point, I've been gaming on it for over 6 months. That time value is much more than the cost of a few games to me, especially since I practically always buy games 8-12 months after launch, when they are $20 or less and have been patched/modded.

I liked Arkham Asylum but didn't think it was anything spectacular. A lot like Assassin's Creed, as the last poster said. I have the later games from various sales but have never played them.

damn i just grabbed a 970 2 weeks ago .. shit lol

If you got it from newegg email them and ask for an Arkham Knight code. I read last year they gave out Pick Your Path codes to people who bought 970s and 980s in the weeks before the promotion started.

Damn so it is a GOG version is it possible to play it on steam?

No, although you can still add it to your steam library as a non-steam game of course (it just won't have the steam overlay or use steam to patch)

It's a great deal. The question is why?

When AMD had their huge bundles with R280/X/290/X back during the Kepler competition days, many folks here called it a desperate move to compete/sell more cards. In fact, even I agreed with that assessment.

Does the same apply for NV? If so, there's only one plausible scenario:

By all public accounts, the 970/980 have been selling very well, there's no need for NV to offer extra incentive to move them even faster. Unless..

Nv knows the performance/efficiency of AMD's new lineup and its exceeded their expectation. Time to sell a lot of 970/980 before the hammer falls and they have to get a price cut.

This is a very good promo for those cards.

My guess is these deals are hammered out long before they actually start, probably in the GameWorks agreement between the companies.

It's possible but these promotional efforts are set far in advance most likely. Witcher 3 comes out in under two weeks and Batman is due in June, it could be as simple as NV wanting to maximize card sales from these game releases while the hype is strong. After all if they included them months after release the bundle would be far less appealing regardless of what AMD does as many gamers will have already bought them.

It does seem strange that they offer both instead of giving the option of one or the other, though.

Not that strange, they are completely separate bundles and each probably have their own terms... Unlike the Ubisoft bundle before, where it was pick one from the start. These two just overlap, which makes for a great time to buy these cards.

It's not strange to bundle an already well selling SKUs with 2x most anticipated AAA titles, at a time where there's zero competition?

I think that's pretty strange. That's too good to be true, a pure charity move from NV.. unless again, they know something is about to threaten 970/980 prices.

Or slap out a 980 Ti and steal AMDs thunder once again.

The deals to do this were probably made months and months ago, witcher deal might have even happened before the game got delayed.

Who knows what NV thought the market was going to look like back when their guys were negotiating with WB and CDPR but once the deal is done do you expect them to just not abide by it because their cards are close to being the only ones on the market?

Why not bundle for the 960 too, or split 1 game for the 960 etc.

Why the focus on 970/980 unless they want to clear it out at the current prices asap.

The other thing is that the 970/80 are getting slightly 'old' by now - getting on for 8 months already! - so quite a few of the people who'd have got one will have got one already.

Seems a logical enough time to try a bundle to try and push people dithering over the fence.

If nothing else of course, the eventual 980ti is surely likely to dent the pricing on the 980's? Won't have the premium for being the fastest (vaguely affordable ) single GPU any more.

The profit margin on the 960's presumably isn't enough for a big bundle.

For the people that emailed Newegg, what did you exactly say?

Here is what I said.
"I bought this card 2 weeks ago and now Newegg is offering free Batman game. Can I
get this promotion with my purchase or do I have to return my purchase and buy the video card
again?"

I wonder if thats why my card was nonrefundable - exchange only if defective.

Just FYI, this did not work for me. No extra free game on my 980, and I bought it 7 days ago. I did not, however, say that I was going to return it. That would cost more in shipping and restocking fees than the game is worth.

This would be plausible except these cards are already selling really well. And it's not like there is NO bundle. The question is why did they feel the need to double the bundle. If the deal to bundle Batman was hammered out months ago, they could've easily chosen to Batman these two cards and move TW3 to say the 960 or heck even the Titan X. Why redouble efforts to push something that's selling really well with no competition. If you are selling something practically as fast as you can make it, you don't respond by sweetening the deal.

Your last two senstences are flawed. The cards are selling well. Why would you not want them to sweeten an already good deal? In the long run it benefits the customers which in return allow them to sell even more. Whether they think AMD is hot on their heels it's a still a good incentive to reward/appease potential new customers from the other camp as well as the diehards.

I just got the batman code from newegg.

Considering the MSI 970 4G is $330 and the two games can be sold for $25 each on ebay (which im doing now) means this card's net cost for me is somewhere around $290 after fees.

At this point I wouldn't have any regrets even if 390x/980ti launched tomorrow. I'd simply craiglist the card for like $270.
