Man, lots of guys losing their chicks to guy "friends" lately. many people have said that guys can't be friends with girls, that there's always an ulterior motive of getting into their pants.

so what do you think?

I have 2 girls that are genuine friends that I would never bang. Any other girls that are friends I probably talk to them just because they're hot.

So it's possible but rare.

i AM LEGIT FRIENDS WITH GIRLS.

do i have other motives? sure. hell yeah. I get priceless insight into the female mind. I get to go out on the town with a bunch of hotties and get into clubs free and get free drinks. I get to bang all her friends.....the list goes on.....

Guys can become friends with the opposite sex, which can often lead to romance. It's the way we were created. Even a dating relationship typically starts as friendship and becomes something more. Why does this phenomenon surprise you again?

It is possible, but rare.

The guy has to be mature enough to treat the girl as a friend, and the girl has to do likewise. Of course, there is a possibility that attraction will happen, but if the guy is mature enough, he can either pursue it, or let it go for the sake of the friendship.

Most guys are too immature and too prone to idolize sex to have any good cross gender friendships, and that is really sad. I have changed my mind about this a lot since college. I used to think it wasn't possible, but now after having some good friendships of my own, and growing up a bit, I see that close cross-gender friendships can happen. There are definite boundaries you cannot cross in what you share, but that just takes maturity (which like I said before, is quite lacking in today's culture). It definitely takes maturity on both side though (girls can act very immature themselves though, but it usually manifests itself in different ways <insecurity> ). I am lucky to say that I actually have 2-3 very good friendships with mature girls, but mainly I have mostly guy friends.

Girls can certainly have guy friends and vice versa. The rule that you can't go from a friendship to a romatic relationship is also stupid...it happens all the time.

its possible but rare... i've had a few good female friends but i obviously wanted to bone every one of them.... and i actually got around to fooling around with a few of them... lol i dunno its just human nature

i think you can be friends with tons of ppl from the opposite sex but as far as spending alone time and hanging out 1x1 its a lil weird... there was to be some kinda connection

I don't see why it is such a big deal? Why would you think guys can't be friend with girls and vice versa?

The 3 girls I am friends with are all very attractive. Guys are hitting on them or chasing after them all the time. I have even asked out one of them before (but I was unaware of a few things at the time). Meh, things happen for a reason, and they are all good friends.

i never said i thought that way but have you seen the threads in question? pretty much everyone there says that itys not possible, but then in this post, we're seeing the total opposite for the most part.

i just think its funny that in one thread people say one thing and then in a totally different thread, the outcome is the total opposite. i've seen this happen on this forum several times before also.

maybe the people in those other threads haven't voted in this thread? although i am seeing a bunch of votes for it can happen but its rare so maybe its not off as much as i think.

You are boned if you think you wont have thoughts of attraction for a mutual friend of the opposite sex. It happens..eventually

Yes if...
...the guy & girl are both married.
...the guy is gay.
...the girl is not hot.
...the guy is impotent.

Pretty much. I tried it and ended up going further that I originally planned.

Yes. The Woman has never gotten along well with women (American)...she finds them too bitchy and conniving. I agree with that. So, she has many guy friends, most being friends of her brother. However, she's not American and that might have some bearing on her friendships.

Short story:

A firend of a friend was best friends with a girl for 2 years. I was introduced to the girl. Shortly thereafter the guy could no longer tolerate me. About 4 months later he was no longre best friends with the girl. A couple years later, the girl and I got married. They don't even IM or email anymore (note that I never said anything or acted jelous. My wife was willing to continue the friendship but the guy couldn't handle it).

I've always had many more male than female friends. Many guys are perfectly capable of having female friends without crossing the line with them, whether or not they find them attractive.

If my friends who are girls are willing to keep a close friendship while dating another guy.
That would be cool. If they think it is best to remain friends more distantly, that is cool too.

You have to approach any friendship with the other person's needs in mind. If the girl feels the need to distance herself from other guys other than her boyfriend (sad, but it happens to the immature), then, if you keep the friend's needs in mind, then as a friend, you would have to distance yourself. If she wishes to continue a friendship and it is cool with her SO, that is cool too.

QFT. It all boils down to how mature and secure the people are. If you are insecure, then you won't be able to handle it. If you are immature, same.

Only reason ladder theory is true is because the majority of people nowadays aren't mature (man) enough to handle talking to a girl without the motives being about physical stuff.
