With an AGP and a PCI video card, can i get my 2 monitors to be one large monitor?

Some people have their 2 monitors to act as one long monitor with there dual display on one video card. Can i do this with an agp and a pci card? how would i do this?

The actual technique will depend on the drivers, but for most, as long as they BOTH support dual monitor usage, you can just set it up that way in the Display Properties dialog in Windows (presumably in other OSes there is an similar function). You usually have choices between making one large desktop (where you can position the "virtual" second monitor to appear as either above, below, or beside the primary monitor) or duplicating the primary monitor, or things like zooming). Pretty much any newer video card will support dual monitor, however older cards may not due to drivers (for instance I have a Riva128 card that works in dual monitor, but only with an old beta driver version).

The fact that one is AGP and one PCI won't make any difference. It would rather kill any desire for most people to use dual monitors if they both had to be PCI video cards.

what do you mean by BOTH supporting dual display. do you mean if they work in a dual display setup?

The drivers for both cards have to support running with a second video card. If they don't, then one card or the other may not work.

At the very least, Windows has to support them. (It's been awhile since I tried dual display, Win2k/XP may be able to run the cards in dual mode whether the drivers support them or not.)

As long as your vid card has working drivers you should be able to do what you require.
Just dont extend the desktop via the display properties options for the second monitor.
Instead just increase the screen size for "Monitor 1" to the max and when its gone past the max res of your first monitor it will span over the two monitors as one big desktop.
