All that extra stuff is just fluff.

I'm curious since you brought it up, is a rape fetus less valuable, less important, than another fetus? Is an incest fetus less valuable? If one person's belief is that a fetus is a living person with the right to be born, that belief doesn't change by the specifics over how it was created.

It's his belief. Now, is he on a personal crusade to overturn Roe v. Wade? Everyone can believe in something, does that pose a threat to you? Does that make him unfit to govern?

honestly I could give a shit

I mentioned it merely for the contexed that those are fringe views that surely cost him votes.

He has I beleive sponsored some anti-abortion bills.

I myself am not a huge fan of abortion, but I don't hinge my vote on it as an issue, others do.

You obviously have not seen the elecorate of Chicago. If you think they are providing the funding for the state you are crazy.

Lets just put it this way, Dave McOwen lives in Chicago.

The metro area is responsible for about $600B annually in GDP with a population of about 9.5M (out of 12M total IL population and 750B GDP).

I'm no math expert but that looks like a wee bit of money.

Awesome, lets do the split then.

Chicago and Crook county keep all the money generated in their area, and everything outside of Chicago and Crook county keep all the money generated in their area.

Since we're splitting, we can start fresh, void all contracts and start over. Chicago and Crook county can continue with their high taxes and uber union services (god they're awesome)...I wonder how the businesses there will react when the taxes go up another 5% to cover for the outlying red counties proping Chicago area up not doing so any longer? When 1/3 of the businesses leave, where is Chicago going to get all the additional tax money to sustain themselves? I know...heavily tax the Chicago water...how....liberal......

So in other words, 80% of the people reside in Chicago, and contribute about 80% of the GDP?

Wow. Looks like you're really on to something. :hmm:

The only county you need to count is Crook, aka Cook - that will include Chicago. All the other counties are red. Cook is not 9.5M, it's like 5.2M. Who knows what the $$$ numbers are.

The important $$$ numbers are the ones 10 years after the split, when Chicago is a Detroit like sh1thole and the surrounding counties have errected walls ala Israel to keep the Crooks out.

Yeah, compare Crook county to McHenry, Kendall, Dupage, Kane, etc...you catch my drift. Its like comparing Sierra Leone to Monaco

the new census puts il at 12.9 mil and the pop of the CSA for the metro area at 9.8mil
so 76% of pop.

520 mill GDP out of the 630 IL produces.

so 82.5% of the GDP.

of course, those numbers are meaningless as there is no context nor do we have state funding specifics for dollars spent in the area.

of course, the rest of state, has all but one of the powerplants......we are ranked #2 in both corn and soybean production, and IL corn is used to produce 40% of the ethanol made in the USA, so you can blame that BS on us too

You say "metro" area though...we are only talking about Crook County. What are the new numbers for just Crook County?

It proves itself. Go there sometime. Have you ever been? Go anywhere outside of the loop/wrigleyville/Michigan avenue, and a few other places, and the city is complete trash.

In other words, you got nothin', as usual.

Every city has its awesome areas and it's complete shitholes that you don't want to drive through.

Doesn't matter about areas, we're - again - talking about counties. Seperate Crook from the rest, let it stand on its own.

If it's so spectacularly awesome, it'll clearly rise above...

No takers huh? Didn't think so.....

Fire all public employees. Then hire them back at half the wages. Lets see how many of them take the job.

No, I have something. Drive around Chicago. A lot more shitty areas than nice ones. Everyone knows this

how about you check the links and do the math yourself

it took me 5 minutes to google, but my curiosity has subsided. I'm sure without the other 2 crook is in serious trouble

edit: 5.3mil for cook pop

So it's basically what I guessed earlier. Do your links happen to have Crook county revenue? I will look later, I can't right now...I'm genuinely curious just how much they officially report.

Crook would be in even more trouble if such a split did happen. Other towns have tried to split off before, citing the same complaint (Chicago Machine doesn't represent them)....never happened, Chicago Machine too powerful.... No way if the rest of IL was getting out, would those other towns chose to go down the drain with Crook...they'd be out for sure (hello Lincoln County, x 2 or 3).

I could show you large areas in and around Houston that would make you want to be armed to the teeth, while wearing a bulletproof vest and a gas mask.

It means nothing, every city is the same way.

At least in Houston you can drive around armed to the teeth. In Chicago only the gangs are armed, the populace has been disarmed.

You are over simplifying things to fit your view. The majority of Illinois is being represented as that's what the majority voted for. Funny how these poor people aren't getting represented but then in November, it was a land slide victory and the people have spoken! Funny how these are nearly the same margins of victory...

How can an entire state, minus Crook county and two blue counties down south (one of which borders STL and houses the totally safe and awesome E. St. Louis), be really represented in the federal Senate if the senators are Dem's and the entire rest of the state is red?

Granted, we've finally got a Rep senator, one, after the Dem's mind numbingly F'd up for the past 3 years...but still, had they not, or not as bad, we'd still have all Dem representation. And it took Messiah vacating his post after winning POTUS for that to happen...no way would O'Bummer have ever lost a race, he could have been lifetime Dem Senator in IL forever - after he's done with his 2nd term, he still could be...

Methinks you simplify things to fit your view...

That 80% is from a diversified economy and only covers 15% of the state's land at the same time.
