Very Interesting

Its kinda neat and informative to look at..especially at the evolution of the parties.

Perhaps we are long overdue for both the democrat and republican parties to go away.

How about a revival of those Federalists?

Perhaps a Whig or two?

Notice how in the old days not only did we have many parties, but they also won electoral votes

Isn't it disgusting that our first president was put in place by a foreign country intervening, and appointed by a council, without a popular election?

Yeah, Ross Perot got over 19 million popular votes in 1992 but not a single electoral vote. That's the winner take all system for ya. Of course he lost the election for Bush Sr., that carried some weight.

Take a look at the 1960, 1968, and 1976 elections and look how close they really were. A landslide election though is more the exception and not the rule....take a look at the late 1800s as well.

I really would have liked for Perot to win that race...we was right in many ways on the economy.

Last I heard the Revolution was instigated by citizens of the colonies, not by that foreign country.

Unless our political system of 'winner takes all' goes away, we'll always fall back to the dominant two party system in the end. If Republicans and Democrats are eradicated, it'll come back with just different names.

The reasons for the electoral college system no longer apply, but it's like a catch-22 where the party in power will never support a change because it would be like biting the had that fed them, and the other party doesn't have enough power to change the law. And this would require a Constitutional amendment, the hardest of all laws to get passed.

Why don't you call it the "democratic" party?

Because it makes you ask stupid questions.

Why exactly do you get your panties in a bunch about it?
